Ok, as most of you know, Clayton surprised me and got me a dog that has been born at his mother’s house. Now, his mother is allowing the dog to stay at her house for the duration of the fall semester, and after then will move in to whatever house Clayton actually moves into in December. Now, I appreciate EVERYTHING that they are doing for us by keeping Toby at their house, but this does not dismiss recent events.
On Saturday, we went to a carnival at their church, and Clayton’s mother reaches over and tries to feed Toby a piece of popcorn. Now, Clayton and I don’t really want Toby to eat processed food because, well, it’s not all that healthy for humans to eat, let alone dogs. I mean, a few times every once in a while is not going to kill him, but we had JUST gotten done telling them that we don’t want Toby eating human food. Well, I said nicely, “Ruth, we don’t want him eating processed food.” She turns to me and says, in a very haughty tone, “Well, as long as he’s at MY house, he’ll be eating popcorn.” Like, it was so RUDE. I couldn’t believe that she feels like she can talk to me like that. I was so stunned I couldn’t say anything. But I got so mad.
Fast forward to yesterday, apparently Toby has been throwing up all afternoon. Without even consulting either me or Clayton (who are paying for his vet bills), it is decided that they are taking him the vet tomorrow (which is now today). I didn’t even know about him throwing up until last night, so I couldn’t even take him to the vet yesterday (which I could have done). I could have screamed at someone. It’s our dog, and while I appreciate them taking care of him for us for a few months, it would be nice to know what the heck is going on with something that we have invested time, love, and money into, you know?
I mean, I might be exaggerating, but I’m just so frustrated! Am I wrong?
