Misperceptions

Friday I went to an intimate wine dinner at Restaurant Eugene. We got to eat with the restaurant owner and a wine importer and try a sampling of different beaujolais as well as meet some other wine enthusiasts. The people that go to these sorts of dinners tend to be  older, wealthy married couples-- possibly even early retirees.

The general, but unspoken, assumption they have is that Russell and I are dating. It's not like anyone ever comes right out and asks so it would be awkward to correct. And it's not like their assumptions aren't mostly correct: Yes, we are gay. Yes, he is paying for the dinner. Yes, we do travel and eat out together all the time. And everyone, for some reason, seems to love a happy gay couple. (Well not everyone but the ones who don't think we're going to hell etc.)

But consequently I'm sort of seen as the trophy boyfriend who gets dragged to all these events. :P

In other news I am almost up to the big 45lb weights on my inclined bench press.
