On Sunday night a couchsurfer posted an emergency Couchsurfing request for a night or two in Linz. I responded and said I lived close to the train station, where I met Dan a few hours later, when he was dropped off there by his ride. It turns out he hitchhiked to Linz from the czech republic.
He left this morning, while I was at work and left my apartment tidier than before he arrived. He even emptied out all my bins. (I joked on facebook: I should have showed him where I keep my vacuum..) and left behind a lovely note thanking me for my hospitality and a dried autumn leave.
Last night he admitted that with the curtains open, my roomie Oliver is illuminated by the lanterns outside and it creeped him out a little. When I got home from work today, Dan had already left, and I noticed the special present he had left behind for Oliver:
His hitchhiking sign for Linz :-)
I am fairly sure I will hear from Dan at some point in the future - I gave him two bookcrossing books and since he's travelling with a computer I hope he'll let me know where they end up when he's done.
