Time for a meme.

Well, since I've been tagged by dontcrosscross and indirectly tagged by hoc_voluerunt, I think I shall fill this in now.

If you’ve been tagged, you must write your answers in your own lj and replace any question that you dislike with a new question.
Tag eleven people. Don’t refuse to do that. Don’t tag who tagged you.

What song are you currently addicted to?

At the moment it seems to swing between "Alejandro" by Lady Gaga (OMG IT'S SUCH AN EARWORM), and "Ticket to Ride" by the Beatles.

What's your favorite season?

Autumn, not least because I have a September birthday. ;) I like it because it's one of those times in between times, neither summer nor winter. Summer's too hot and humid for me, but in autumn it's less oppressive. The air feels clearer in autumn - crisp, but not too cold, and there's always a hint of wood-smoke in the air where I live, which gives it a nice, old-world feeling. And the colours! We have a garden with lots of trees, and it's always wonderful to see them turning to their autumn colours. There's a copper beech just outside the kitchen window, and autumn is when you see it in its full glory, ablaze with colour.

Then, as the season turns towards winter and the nights close in, there's a hint of melancholy in the atmosphere which appeals to the writer in me, coupled with the feeling of getting cosied down for the winter.

Yeah, I like autumn. A lot. :)

What’s the latest movie you watched?

Er... Teenagers from Outer Space. It was an episode of MST3K, but it still counts, right? "When we return to our planet, the high court may well sentence you to TAW-CHUH!" XDDD

God, I love bad movies.

What is the one skill you wish you had?

Some sort of social skill would be nice. It can get pretty disheartening to be so shy and awkward around people. :(

What’s your current fandom/obsession/addiction?

What is it always? :P Roman history is always my overarching obsession. Fandom-wise, it's Shakespeare, Julius Caesar in particular. You know me, I love that play and everything associated with it like... like... well, like Cassius loves Brutus. Only without the suicidal bitch-fits. ;)

Also, as soon as I get my paws on a Sherlock DVD, that'll probably hit obsession levels, too!

What's your favorite part of modern pop culture?

Popular culture? Lolwut. Okay, no, if you mean "modern" as in "from the last couple of years", I'll have to say... um... Doctor Who, I guess.

(In vaguely related news, I met my sister's boyfriend for the first time today. She said he looked like Matt Smith. Holy moly, she was not lying. All he was missing was the bow-tie. XD)

What Web sites do you always visit when you go online?

My email, and LJ (of course). Then there's a few blogs I follow, mostly writing/book blogs, though there are a few academic blogs thrown in. YouTube, obviously. And over the course of the day, I usually end up Googling something which takes me to Wikipedia or IMDb at some point. And I usually go snooping around DeviantART for a while at some point. Also, TVTropes. Just... TVTropes. It's the last thing a chronic procastinator like me needs, and I love it so. XD

What was the last thing you bought?

Um... a newspaper. That's a boring answer, isn't it? If you mean what was the last interesting thing I bought, I had a DVD binge a few days ago, and bought myself a boxset of Eddie Izzard shows (I now has the full set!), North by Northwest (A Hitchcock movie with James Mason in it - where have you been all my life?), and Hound of the Baskervilles - the 1939 Basil Rathbone version. (Fuck yeah! - I've not seen it in years!)

If you won 10,000 bucks today, what would you do with it?

Well, first, get it changed into pounds. ;) Then help to pay some of our outstanding debts on the building work etc., make some donations to charity, pay back the money I owe to a friend; then, with what's left, either book me a holiday to Rome, or set about buying all the books I want.

Most awesome book ever?

You can't ask me a question like that. It's not fair. I can't do it. You can't make me. There are too many. *cries*

What's the last thing that made you happy?

How happy are we talking here? I find lots of silly wee things throughout the day that make me happy. Though getting my laptop fixed the other day and being able to do a software update for the first time in months definitely put a smile on my face!

Also, my cat is on the bed next to me at the moment, snoring. It's adorable. :)

Do you want to learn another language?

Oh God, yes. I love languages, though I don't think I'm really fluent in anything apart from English. I took French and German at school, and I really want to get back to them, because I've forgotten so much. I'll be picking Latin up again in the second semester of this coming year, and I'm looking forward to that. Last year, I took a beginner's course in Gaelic (Scottish Gàidhlig as opposed to Irish Gaeilge) and was pretty disappointed when I had to leave it, just as I was getting the hang of it. I still have the book and the CD, though, I suppose I could just keep teaching myself... As far as languages that I haven't done before go, I've always wanted to learn Italian.

Tag 11 people:

Eh... I don't think I even have eleven people to tag. How about - if you read this and you haven't done this yet, consider yourself tagged.

Look at that, meme, I defy you! You hear me? I DEFY YOU. XD

my meme addiction, meme
