Might as well update since I can't sleep thanks to, what else, the damn bar. And I have to get up in about 5 hours. Joy. Anyway...
My local bead store was having a 50% off seed bead sale, and since I had to buy beads anyway, I decided to hit that up. I was looking for beads that were a bit more irregular in shape (she used vintage beads in the original), but they make them so darn perfect nowadays, but I found a purple/blackish color, and the clearish pink and yellow that are sprinkled in there. I got $40 worth of beads for $18 :) I got 4 18gram tubes
Then on a whim I looked in my stash... I had two tubes of more perfect beads. Figures. (The ones I bought won't go to waste though). Those were 7 gram tubes. I got them at Michael's, where I now work, but didn't see them on the bead wall. I was researching online, when I decided to look at FireMountainGems. They didn't have the same brand, but they had hexagonal shaped seed beads in "Gunmetal Blue"... 250 GRAMS FOR $14!!!
So I think that'll be enough ;) I haven't been working on this costume as much lately, as once I hit the hoop skirt I'm kinda bored. I have been working on my Victorian Corset, which is basically assembled. I am stitching boning channels on the 2nd half, and once I get in my plasti dip, I can cut my bones and do some decorative stitching and it's finished :)
I also did a test, I believe the beads are mounted on another fabric and then appliqued on, so I beaded this onto some polyester georgette and used an embossing tool to burn out the shape so it won't fray. I should be able to fold it under and applique it on. I can't wait to get started on the beading, but I need to figure out the flower sequins first.
Sorry for the long-winded post ;)
