He’s just finished creating a cobweb that extends from the corner of Harry’s room all the way across his bed and onto the floor in a tangle of white polyester threads when Perrie bursts in. “There you are,” she says, smiling wide. “Liam said you might be here.”
“Hey,” Zayn says, easily. He’s a bit proud of the cobweb by now, so he stands back and waits for Perrie to pass judgement on it.
“It looks great, babe,” Perrie says. She steps closer. “Niall and Harry’ve run out for beers, Nick, and curry takeaway for all of us. Not necessarily in that order.”
“I expect Nick’s mostly for Harry,” Zayn says. "Rather than all of us."
Perrie laughs, and Zayn has to take a moment to appreciate how beautiful his girlfriend is when she loses herself to laughter. “Probably," she says. "Louis has got Liam’s shirt hidden and said something about licking all the fake blood off of his chest, so of course Jesy’s sat in the bathroom watching them clean up.”
“Of course,” Zayn agrees. Perrie is close enough for him to snag his arm around her waist, so he does. He loves how his heart still beats faster around her, even after dating for months and months. “And Jade and Leigh?”
Perrie smiles, slow and wide. “In the kitchen making sure Niall’s seeds don’t burn and doing some washing-up.”
“So they’re all downstairs, then,” Zayn says, raising his eyebrows and turning to face Perrie head-on.
“And busy,” she says, smirking, and leans up for a kiss.
“Maybe this haunted house shite wasn’t such a bad idea,” Zayn mumbles, against her lips, and Perrie laughs again.
“None of my ideas are bad, babe,” she says, poking him in chest. “I’ve got another great one to run past you, too.”
“Does it involve the guest bedroom?” Zayn asks, hopefully, and smiles as Perrie nods and leans in for another kiss.
