I wish Americans would explain to me why they don't vote according to their economic situation and outlook, but rather according to their "values." It seems to me that if I were financially comfortable and secure, I'd be more complacent about what my government did or didn't do. Things like infrastructure, trade, foreign policy, environment, employment, healthcare matter to me more--is this a sign that I'm not cut out to be a US citizen/voter?
And the weirdest thing about it? The people most likely to vote their "moral values" aren't that economically secure for the most part... and the candidates who speak to "values" are generally the ones ready to sell the country to the highest bidder. How moral is that? Stuff like this doesn't happen (as much) in Europe, because 1) so many other political parties that the corporations can't afford to buy them all, and 2) levels of societal spirituality are much lower. http://humaniststudies.org/enews/?id=281&article=0 And that'll be us in two-three generations (if this one doesn't ruin the place first... which is exactly what they seem bent on doing?) Each successive generation is less likely to believe in supernatural anything than the one before. Partially because more of nature is explained by conventional means.

Stuff like this doesn't happen (as much) in Europe, because 1) so many other political parties that the corporations can't afford to buy them all, and 2) levels of societal spirituality are much lower.
