The Whole Range of Problems

Nov 24, 2011 01:11

A couple of weeks ago the oven part of the range went bad. Some sensor went haywire and incinerated a dessert. Ouch.
Mom had had her eye on an induction range, and it looked like repairs to the current oven would be nearly as much (cost + hassle) as buying new.
The new unit was delivered Tuesday ... and was about an inch wider than the slot available. Grr.
So we had to call someone in to grind down the edges of the counter so it'd fit. Day lost. Still had to go shopping. Roosevelt Way slammed in peak-hour traffic- even though it was peak hour going the other way. Didn't get back until 6:00.
Just in time to get stuff into the fridge and get... wait for it...
power outage.
City Light reports 35 customers affected. Which is to say, about half this condo complex. And the place they had to open up for testing things is right under my window. And I thought I could turn in early.
Power was restored at basically 12:45AM, for an outage duration of six and a half hours.
Could have been worse... say, 10 hours later with all those busy ovens.
