100. REGRETS - ot13 - 387 words
It sounded so sudden.
He was leaving. Shindong was leaving and Eunhyuk was frozen in shock. He did his best to keep calm, he did his best to stay in his seat, he did his best to fight the urge to run over to the other side and shake his hyung back to sanity. Because this was insane. This couldn’t be real. Something this heartbreaking must not be real. It couldn’t be real. He won't accept it.
But he did.
No amount of anger and disbelief could have made Eunhyuk love any of them less. Not even Shindong... no, not even his hyung who was leaving them for good - forever. Eunhyuk jumped at the chance to defend him when Kangin pounced on his confession; making him the selfish one, hungry for popularity. In reality, Eunhyuk would've thought the same of Shindong as well, but he refused to believe that any of his friends - no, brothers - would leave him just like that for such a petty reason.
He wasn't one to think that way.
And he believed that Shindong wasn't one to be that selfish either.
None of them were.
He choked slightly on his own words as he tried to calm Kangin and Heechul down. He didn't want this to happen; no one wanted this to happen. And Eunhyuk wasn't going to let this happen. They were his brothers, he's made that clear. And brothers weren't meant to give up on each other just like that. Something was wrong, but it's not too late to fix it. It's not too late to get him back. It's not too late to save each other.
Or is it?
He wondered, panicking as he watched a pair of chopsticks fly across the table. He didn't succeed... Eunhyuk watched as his two hyungs nearly tore each other's heads off.
He watched.
And he hurt.
He started to hurt even more when he found himself dumbfounded and out of comforting words at Shindong's painful question. He searched, and he searched... but he couldn't find anything to say. He wanted to tell him it wasn’t true, that he never did, but he couldn't. Because Eunhyuk knew, Shindong was right...
And at that moment, Eunhyuk wished he had answered the door the night before, at the sound of Shindong's pleading voice... asking for company.
095. DROWNING - ot13 - 343 words
He didn't know what to do. He watched everyone, all his hyungs nearly bursting into flames of anger and spite, yet he couldn't do anything but watch. Ryeowook wished for something clever to say. He wanted so badly to end this. It all hurt too much, but he believed that there was still a possibility that they'd listen.
He wanted to say something, to wake them up and make them stop... but the words weren't coming out. He wanted to cry, but instead he choked in his unshed tears and kept quiet. He wanted to keep it together, to keep everyone together (or at least try,) but he was powerless.
Ryeowook felt so powerless.
"Was there ever a time that you thought lightly of me?? Was there or wasn't there?!?"
The question pierced right through him, and he remembered all those times that he avoided his hyung's echoing voice. He kept his head down, not wanting to face the now painfully piercing eyes of the one he left in the dressing room the other day, scoffing at how slow he’d become.
He had nothing.
Once again, he had nothing. All the words he could possibly come up with disappeared, and all he could do was hope that someone would intervene for him. He couldn't do this, he couldn't face Shindong. He felt too guilty.
Almost thankful, Ryeowook turned at the sound of Kyuhyun's voice. He breathed out a sigh of relief, and crooked his neck to listen to the youngest member's calm reply.
But he didn't hear it.
Instead, he heard him struggle. Instead, he heard his pain. Instead... Ryeowook heard Kyuhyun break down and cry. And it killed him.
And he cried. He felt Sungmin's loving arms wrap around him, but he still couldn't stop crying. The tears just kept flowing and he thought he was going to drown. They just kept falling, even through the words of encouragement and the soft breaths of it's okay, Ryeowook's walls continued to crumble.
"We were meant to only come this far..."
He was broken.
098. SOOTHING - ot13 - 400 words
What?!
Both boys continued to stare in disbelief.
Why is everyone laughing?
Ryeowook felt as if his eyes were going to bulge out of their sockets, and Eunhyuk suddenly forgot how to breathe. Both mouths were agape, both hearts adjusting to the new atmosphere.
They were laughing.
There was some sort of sick relief pulling at their heartstrings at the sound of laughter erupting throughout the room. From all the anger and the sadness that suffocated them just a few minutes ago, this unexplained cheer was a welcomed breath of fresh air.
But still, "Why?"
Ryeowook continued to break down at the realization of a prank, still not able to believe they managed to pull this off. It was mean, he thought. Even as Yehsung, Sungmin and Hankyung continued to calm him, the pain started to crawl its way back into his heart when thoughts of all his hyungs planning all of this came to mind.
Eunhyuk, half relieved and half pissed, wanted to slap Shiwon and Donghae away from his needed moment of silence. His tears were falling uncontrollably now, and the last thing he needed was these two boys all up in his face, scrubbing for tears.
"I'll do it."
He said, forcing a laugh to keep the atmosphere. He wanted to stay angry, but he couldn't help but give in to the soothing feeling of butterfly kisses being fluttered lightly across his face.
Kangin stood watching his boys huddled together, giving the two heartbroken members hugs of support and apology. He couldn't help but feel guilty, but at the back of his mind he was still thankful for this. No one wanted to make them cry, and no one expected them to say what they had said... but no one will forget this day either.
They were complete. Another cough pushed its way out of Leeteuk’s lungs, forcing the tears to come brimming at the corners of his eyes. It was a sight to behold. Through the silent regret of pulling this prank on his dongsaengs, Leeteuk was beyond touched at the sincerity and the love that surrounded him and his boys at that very moment.
He was thankful, all of them were.
And as Eunhyuk and Ryeowook received loving hugs and light kisses from the men they adored, loved and respected with all their heart, they knew -
- this wasn't going to be anything less than forever.
