My weekend
I had a pretty good weekend. I bought and rented a bunch of movies from Blockbuster. I babysat on Saturday for 3 kids (plus Mia) and got a headache because they were all very hyper. That night I ordered chinese food and drank a vodka/Gatorade and watched a few movies. P.S. I Love You was a very good movie. I loved it. It was sad though- and now I am in love with that actor. Raaaer! lol
Sunday I was up early with Mia. We ate breakfast and then went shopping at Walmart for a few items before picking up Ivy. After I got Ivy we came back to the condo and ate lunch and then we headed to Lee Lee's Asian Market in Chandler to get some other stuff on my shopping list. I love that store!! We were there for an hour. I got way more stuff than I intended to buy but whatever..I got annatto seeds so that I can make achiote oil for my Puerto Rican dishes. I got a pilon (finally), and a meat mallet. I got two tubs of tropical fruit ice-cream that you would never see anywhere. It's purple yam ice-cream, and jackfruit ice-cream. I got my Sazon, Knorr's cubitos, Goya salad seasoning packets (these are soooo freakin good when mixed with lemon juice, olive oil and a bit of white vinegar for salads). I got a huge bag of pork and vegetable dumplings, Goya beans, Colombian coffee, beer, Pepsi, wine, bacalao (they actually have this!) and the viandas (yucca, yautia, plantains, potatoes) to make with it. I got pumpkin to make sauteed veggies in garlic and olive oil. I got dough to make empanadas (meat pastries); an aloe drink that is really good; and a bunch of other stuff.
After the hour of shopping, which I'm sure was boring for the girls, Mia wanted to use her own money to get her and Ivy ice-cream from McD's, so we went thru the drive-thru and they ate ice-cream in the backseat on the drive home. We got home and they both helped me carry everything upstairs. I listened to music as I put everything away and then we went to the pool for a bit. They stayed in the jacuzzi mostly bc it was around 430 already at this point. I caught up with Paola on the phone while they played for an hour. Then we went back upstairs to wait for Ivy's mom to come get her. The girls watched a movie while they waited. After they left Mia and I left to shop for a few more things: hangers, water, croissants, cold cuts, garlic and tomatoes. We came back home, Mia took a bath and I snuck a cig out my bathroom window then heated up Chinese food for dinner. Then we watched some of a movie that sucked and were both falling asleep on the couch so I turned off the tv and we went to bed.
We got up this morning and I gave Mia breakfast and we got ready for her to go to Camp. It's not even 10am and I want to get out of here. Dad should be arriving this afternoon from NY. He will be happy to have my spaghetti sauce tonight- he loves it. Tomorrow I'm making chicarrones de pollo with rice and beans and corn. And Wednesday I'm making sopa de hueso. I am also making lemon squares for the first time this week. Mmmm...
I have to hit the gym with so much eating.
Anyway, I'm off to finish some work since I will be out of the office Wed-Friday. Later...
