All seems well with the world today. It makes me nervous. I woke up rested and refreshed. The weather was a comfortable 60 degrees on my ride in to work. And work so far has been busy, but not break-neck speed. I should stay busy enough that the day passes quickly. And my weekend is drama free, I hope and pray.
Definitely feeling nervous about things going well. ::: looks around :::
Of course, if I could get my prestige for the Cam under control, things would be unbelievably close to perfect... but that would mean the world was over... so I guess I can live without that for now.
So, television programming has me happy. You can check under the link for my initial thoughts on the big three shows from last night. Some spoilers for any that haven't watched, so read at your own risk.
Where to begin, where to begin?
To get it out of the way… I may be over my fascination with “Alias.” Don’t get me wrong, the show is still good, but after four previous nail-biting years, last night’s season opener just was… well… kinda boring. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this season seems to have so many shows that are packing in the suspense and thrills that “Alias” just seems… off. I mean, even with Vaughn dying, I wasn’t hooked this year.
“Nightstalker,” on the other hand, was great. Hilchan was bored with it at first, but once it started getting into the larger evil type stuff, it pulled her in. We caught the references to the original show. In once scene, the original Kolchak (the main character) is briefly glimpsed sitting at a newsroom desk. Later, you can see the straw hat that he wore hanging on a hatrack.
But the big news was “Smallville.” Oh. My. God. This *is* sci-fi television. And the references and homage given to the Richard Donner Superman movie was out of this world. Not even counting the reference to Zod… but the Fortress of Solitude looked exactly like the movie version. The phantom zone was nearly an exact copy from the movie. And to watch James Marsters come out of the Kryptonian ship at the end as a teaser for what’s to come. And Lex… finally, Lex Luthor has come out to play.
It’s gonna be tough for me to go to the socials on Thursdays with “Smallville” coming on. Maybe we can look to move everyone getting together to a different night. ::: grin :::
