When Prince William married Kate Middleton, the German newspapers reported about this event for months on end, and on the day itself four TV channels showed the wedding for six hours each.
When Prince Albert married Charlene Wittstock, the German newspapers reported about this event for weeks on end, and there also was quite a lot of TV coverage on the wedding day itself.
Today Georg Friedrich Prinz von Preußen married Sophie Prinzessin von Isenburg. There is one article in today's newspaper, and one local TV channel, which can only be watched in the area where the couple lives, showed the wedding.
I'm quite aware that Germany hasn't been a monarchy since 1918, but it still strikes me as odd that both the media here and its readers and audience care more about the grandson of a foreign queen or a mere prince of a tiny country than about a man who would be the German emperor today.
