Nancy showed up at 4:30 and we headed over to Kragen to pick up a set of jumper cables after which we cruised on over to Starbucks to jump my car. There were cars parked on either side of it so we went inside and got frappes (chai for her; green for me) and had a lovely chat. Eventually someone left and Nancy moved her car next to mine. We managed to jump my car with minimal difficulty. We decided to head back to Kragen and ask a nice clerk to remove my battery and then test it to see if it was holding a charge. Chuck (my friendly neighborhood Kragen representative) was busy helping other customers and we left the car running while we waited for him to be free. Soon he came outside and tried to pry the lugnuts off my battery. He gave up when one proved too crafty. He was afraid of breaking it off and being held responsible. He suggested taking it to a shop and having them remove the lugnuts. I had turned off the car while Chuck was fidgeting with the battery and when I turned the key to start it back up I got nothing. Nancy and I jumped it again and decided that tomorrow morning she will swing by with Jason's battery charger and will leave it with me. I will then drive her to work and keep her car for the weekend. In the meantime Matt and I will figure out what to do with the car. It's likely that something is wrong with the alternator and not just the battery. Perhaps I will hit a friend up for mechanic assistance. Being able to borrow Nan's car buys us some extra time...thank goodness!
Jason is moving with Nancy!!! In October all three of them (Nancy, Jason and Mary -- Matt and Nan's Mom) will move out of the two bedroom and into a three bedroom house. Squeeeeeee! This makes me so happy. Yay!
