WGT: Medieval market and waves of darkness from Russia

Jun 09, 2009 00:57

Saturday's weather was a bit gloomy, but still warm.In the afternoon (there's no such thing as morning when you are at a goff festival) I decided to take a walk around the city, take some pictures and have some proper food. I must admit, I like taking pictures when the sky is grey and cloudy- this way pics have some melancholic mood, there's none of "postcard glamour" in them

Good thing about WGT is that entire city turns into a festival ground, not only clubs or concert halls. Churches, theatres, museums, graveyards - they all have something to "black people". I used the occasion to visit Leipzig arts museum - admission was free for WGT guests.

After museum, food and sights I dropped into the medieval market in Moritzbastei. Spent an hour or so listening to really crap bagpipe music, drinking met and inhaling really incredible smells of garlic bread and leather. Managed to spot some good-looking but absolutely non-goff outfits.

Then I went to my hotel, got properly dressed ad came back to Moritzbastei to see my friends Otto Dix. Got inside the club a bit in advance, and it happened to be a good idea, as by the moment OD started playing the venue was absolutely packed.

What can I say about them? This WGT is well-deserved for them. They're the leading darkwave act in Russia, band with its face, sound, with some notoriousness and intrigue.

Spent the rest of the night watching old movies in Sixtina. It was lovely day.

goff travel, festivals, gigs
