a/n: JUNSEUNG IS GETTING MORE SCARCE BY THE DAY. D: and Junseob's been popular these days, haha. Junseob is adorable, but to me, Junseung&Dooseob are forever. <3
So the story is, Junhyung and Yoseob has been 'together' for a while now. They're not going out, but definitely more than friends. There's nothing between them. So they decide to make it clear to each other, because both of them realize they don't love each other that way... it's different.

The sky was a mixed shade of violet, blue and scarlet all together. A cold breeze sent the pile of leaves on the ground into the air, waltzing away to wherever the wind would take them. It was one of those ordinary days, a day where no one thought about anything special and everyone took everything for granted, just the way they were.

It was a rare day. Being able to come home before 11 was a bit of a miracle for Beast. Everyone washed up and headed to their own stations: Dongwoon headed straight for the bed, not able to keep his eyelids open any longer. Kikwang followed him inside, for his eyes were giving out on him too. Doojoon turned on the laptop and mumbled something about his twitter, and Hyunseung was back to being best friends with the DVD player again.

Whereas Junhyung and Yoseob climbed to the roof together, going for a round of stargazing.

Their thin layers of clothing wasn’t enough to protect them from the not-so-autumn breeze, signaling them that winter was coming soon. They huddled closer together, letting the warmth radiating from each other’s body keep each other warm. Yoseob rested his head on the rapper’s shoulder, letting out a dreamy sigh.

“This is…… perfect.” Yoseob smiled, realizing that he just thought aloud. Junhyung chuckled, wondering how they could be thinking the exact same thing. Their heartbeats were slow and steady. Yoseob drew abstract patterns on Junhyung’s thigh, making him relax and start to close his eyes. His heart was beating faster, his stomach felt funny. This feeling made Junhyung smile.

We could go on forever like this, Junhyung thought. He starts to hum a tune that he was familiar with, yet as the song progressed further it became unidentifiable to him. He stopped humming as he felt his unconscious self think, eyelids now wide open.

We could go on forever, in this world full of lies.

Junhyung closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. No matter how he tries not to think about the subject, it’s been running around in Junhyung’s mind for some while. It feels great being together, just the two of them like this. But there was something missing. Something… wasn’t right. And was never right. He was always looking for a time to say so, but he never wanted to end these moments with Yoseob, never.
But Junhyung can’t ignore the fact, that there was always something… missing. In between the two of them.
So Junhyung takes another deep breath and starts to build up his courage.

“Yoseob….”

Yoseob froze at Junhyung’s tone. It was different, strained. Something was held back. He slowly removed his head from Junhyung’s shoulder. He stared hard at the chimney in front of him, pretending to be deeply interested in the smoke puffing from it. But as horrible as he felt, he knew what it meant, he knew it was time. Because he had felt it too, right from the beginning.
They were just an uncompleted puzzle, nothing more.

It was time. Time for the talk, time to end this all.

Yoseob stayed silent, waiting for Junhyung to continue his words. He hears Junhyung clicking his thumbnail against the nail of his index finger, making a sharp, snapping sound. And after waiting for a minute or two, the only thing that awaits him is the silence.

It envelopes the both of them, wrapping around them tightly, each choking on their own words. Where to start. What to say. Junhyung sighs, really not knowing how to say this all. He regrets that he started this conversation because he really doesn’t know how to end it.

Suddenly he feels Yoseob’s warm hand wrap around his. He wants to look but is too afraid to see Yoseob’s expression. He holds his breath when he hears Yoseob clear his throat, getting ready to say something.

“I know, Junhyung. We need to stop this.”

Junhyung swore his heart jumped out of his chest. A mixture of a gazillion feelings mount inside him. How could Yoseob know? How could he understand? He kept quiet as he saw Yoseob’s mouth twitch, trying to form words.

“We are so mean, Junnie. So mean to them,” Yoseob remarked, his voice getting smaller and smaller. Junhyung nodded solemnly in agreement. “I know, Seob. We really are.”

“I know we said to them that there’s nothing between us. And It’s true. There’s nothing. But at the same time I know there’s something, I feel so relaxed with you… So I always supposed there was something between us, but there was never really anything… What the hell, I’m going around in circles.” Yoseob chuckled. Junhyung smiles and lets Yoseob continue. Yoseob smiles back, letting the breeze tickle his cheeks, making them turn a soft shade of red.

“I swear Hyunseung hates me.” Yoseob laughed, looking up and staring at the stars. “If looks could kill I’d be long dead by now. Oh, and he always criticizes me, and he’s always ‘accidentally’ shoving me, like whaaaat.” Yoseob emphasized the ‘accidentally’ word, which made Junhyung let out a hearty laugh. His heart did a somersault at the thought of Hyunseung.

“And Doojoon…” Yoseob paused as he exhaled quite loudly. “He keeps on saying he understands. And whenever I catch him looking at us, I see pain.” Another sharp exhale of breath. “Pain, pain, pain in his eyes. And I just…. Can’t.”
Yoseob’s voice started to quiver. Junhyung turns his head immediately at the change and sees tears forming in Yoseob’s eyes.
“Can’t. See him. Like that.” A tear trickles down his face. Yoseob turns to Junhyung and gives a weak smile. “But I don’t wanna lose you,” Yoseob finishes.

Junhyung pulls Yoseob into a tight embrace. The sight of Yoseob crying is killing him inside. It was too much to handle. So because he can’t express himself through words, he decides to go ahead and hug the past-blonde, running his hair through Yoseob’s hair slowly, whispering words of comfort, telling him everything was okay.

“Love is a weird thing, isn’t it?” Junhyung mumbles as he pats Yoseob’s back comfortingly. “But I trust that we each know who we really love.”

Yoseob laughs weakly against Junhyung’s chest. “Why thankyou, wise man. I think that’s the most wise thing you’ve said all your life.” He pulls back and wipes the last of his tears. He manages to throw Junhyung a weak smile before pulling Junhyung’s hand towards the stairs, ready to head back to the dorm.

At the dorm, Yoseob finds Doojoon in the kitchen, pouring boiling water into a cup of instant ramyun. He doesn’t know why, but the sight of Doojoon’s spiky black hair sticking out in all directions and the pajama pants Doojoon is currently flaunting just makes Yoseob’s heart flutter. A complete different flutter than when he is with Junhyung. It’s been a while since it fluttered like this. It really has.

So Yoseob approaches the leader and grabs the cup of ramyun from his hands, sets it on the counter and presses his lips against Doojoon’s, hard and rough. Doojoon is a bit shocked for a moment but kisses back, feeling needy towards Yoseob’s seldom act of affection. Yoseob entangles his fingers with Doojoon’s, absorbing the warmth of the big warm hands that he missed so much. Doojoon pulls Yoseob closer, deepening the kiss, letting all their feelings pour out. When their lungs called for air they parted and tried to catch their breath. Doojoon tightened his grip on Yoseob’s hand, a big smile planted on his face.

“You’re back,” Doojoon said, the big grin still on his face. Yoseob launched him a smile.
“Yeah, I was just looking from some fresh air,” he answered.

In a swift moment Doojoon was leaning in and kissing Yoseob once again, this time a bit slower. They took their time, making up for the lack of affection these few weeks.

“No, I mean…. You’re back. My Yoseob. As in mine only. Right?” Doojoon’s fingers drew small circles on Yoseob’s cheeks, awaiting an answer. But he didn’t get one because the next second Yoseob had already pinned him down to the floor.

“Seung.”

Hyunseung slowly opens and rubs his eyes, squinting to adjust to the darkness of the room before he can identify the person calling him. “What, Junhyung.”

“Scoot. Wanna sleep together.” Junhyung is holding a pillow in his hand and waits for a reaction from Hyunseung. But when all Hyunseung does is stare at him, he laughs. “Yah. Don’t tell me you’re not fully awake yet.”
Hyunseung continues to stare. “No. I mean. When was the last time we slept together?”
“Dunno. And don’t care,” Junhyung answers as he climbs into the bed without Hyunseung’s approval. Hyunseung grumbles as he scoots to the right, pushing his own body against the wall. He lets out a yelp when he feels Junhyung’s arm snake around his waist, pulling him closer.
“Why the hell are you so far away?” Junhyung buries his face into Hyunseung’s hair and inhales the scent of Hyunseung, the familiar scent he hasn’t smelled in ages. He chuckles to himself as he feels Hyunseung’s body tensing, the heat from Hyunseung’s burning cheeks radiating onto Junhyung’s neck. It really has been ages, Junhyung mused.

They passed a few moments in silence. Junhyung wasn’t sure whether Hyunseung was still awake or not, but he called out his name anyway.

“Hyunseung?”
No answer.

Junhyung sighs and starts playing with the lock of hair under his chin, pressing Hyunseung closer to his chest. He traces his finger down to Hyunseung’s cheek and pokes him softly. “You know I love you, right.”
He grabbed Hyunseung’s hand and squeezed it tight. He kissed the top of Hyunseung’s head and whispered something only for Hyunseung to hear.
“I love you more than anything, anyone. Even if it looks like I’m leaving you….” Junhyung sighs, and lets out a little chuckle from his mouth. “I sound so cheesy. But it’s true, believe me. I love you too much to leave you.”
He starts to close his eyes, ready to drift into sleep. There was a soft rustle in the sheets, and the next second a warm set of lips was pressing against his, pulling him into a soft kiss. Junhyung opens his eyes again to see Hyunseung smiling back at him, the most angelic smile he has ever seen, and he is sure no angel could ever rival that smile. He smiles back and pulls Hyunseung’s hand, bringing him closer for another kiss, more passionate and deep this time, letting Hyunseung know that no one can replace him.

“I know,” Hyunseung whispered when they parted, closing his eyes as they slowly drifted to sleep pressed together.
