[x] [some kind of title] - I spent the evening watching Gina Carano MMA fanvids on youtube.: Hello, my new girl crush. Huh, I have suddenly developed an interest in female MMA fighting. I WONDER WHY. Also, I have learned that fight fanvids are A Thing. And then there's this: I regret nothing.

[x] akemi42 | Stand with EFF and OTW: Calling all vidders, remix artists, and fans! OTW and EFF have been working hard on a proposal to renew and expand the exemptions for circumventing DVD encryption granted during the last DMCA hearing. Now there are 10 days left for the public to submit their comments. Please sign the letter and report, reblog, etc to get the word around. Stand with EFF and OTW Read more about the 2012 exemption proceedings here.

[x] giandujakiss | PSA: The OTW is once again calling for comments from vidders and fans generally regarding their proposal pending before the Library of Congress to renew and expand DMCA exemptions for vidders, i.e., exemptions from penalties for breaking copy-protections on DVDs and other protected files. I mentioned this once before, when the OTW was preparing its written submission. They submitted that document, and the next step involves the Copyright Office seeking comments from the public directly, which you can submit yourself or give to the OTW to submit as a group. More details here and at the links contained therein.

[x] mresundance: Vid Insta-Rec: Because I'm Awesome (Sherlock) by deirdre_c: I would never in a million years attribute this song to Sherlock, but it fits like a glove. The editing is clever and delightful and the vid itself is completely, utterly Sherlock. Also loved the shot of Sherlock striping his scarf, which hasn't been making fans giddy for weeks. (Yay, fanservice clips!)

[x] laurashapiro | 48 years of Doctor Who in 10 minutes: All the Doctor Who ever! This is a load of fun, though I admit I would've preferred fewer monsters and more companions.

[x] heidi | Sherlock Recs: Two absolutely brilliant ladies have posted their first fannish creativities in the Sherlock fandom, so I'm reccing them to the N-th degree: 2. deirdre_c's Because I'm Awesome fanvid (which I think is her first not-SPN vid?).

[x] anoel | Random Coincidences: I got lucky this year and got two great vids! One is a Wire vid for OMAR!!! So beyond my wildest dreams. The vid is called Soul Survivor and it's a great character study with a lot of wonderful clip-lyric matches that broke my heart. Omar = awesome. I also got an Entourage vid for the boys! It's a cute and fun vid, I Get Knocked Down set to one of my favorite songs. I'm only going to rec one vid but it's my favorite vid of the ones not made for me and it's PERFECT. It's called Fly and it's a Parks and Rec vid for Leslie Knope. And WOW does it do her justice. The song is PERFECT for her (and has finally gotten me to like Nicki Minaj which I now wholeheartedly do) and the vid made me cry-the happy tears. It shows how hard she works as well as showing her fun, lighthearted side. It's hard to find words for it-it's that kind of vid and also the kind I watched like 100 times. Go watch it and you'll see why you should watch the show! There's almost 200 vids at Festivids for lots of rare fandoms so go check out the masterlist and check them out

[x] livrelibre | Festivids! Extraordinary!: Title of vid: Extraordinary Recipient: Rhea314 Fandom: LXD - The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers Music: Monday by Nalepa (remixed by The Glitch Mob) Summary: A legion of bravery, of hope, of the extraordinary. A legion of extraordinary dancers. Content notes: No standardized notes apply Length: 02:34 I keep trying to say why you should watch this and devolving into incoherent flailing, so there's my comment to the vidder below the cut. But just go watch it! It is specifically a recruiter vid so you don't have to know the source but if you enjoy amazing dance vids, GO WATCH IT! OMG festividder! No lie, I literally have tears in my eyes from awesome! This is not just a recruiter vid; this is dropping the mic and walking off. I can't even. . .OK so starting with the letters and then ending with the voiceover and that head nod, that was perfect. The editing was amazing (I loved it all but esp. the powder shots and then the lettermakers wiping it away and punch to the floor and the way you used the Ra punches) and I loved the Glitch Mob remix. You got pretty much everybody in there (including Ninjato and Katana and the Dark Nurse and that cool tap dancing lady and that superawesome shot of Finns). This makes me happy in my soul. It's not even my gift but it feels like it. Thank you!

[x] Treadin' Trodden Trails for a Long, Long Time... -: It's festivids time! \o/\o/\o/ I haven't watched all of them, but I narrowed my favorites so far down to ten (okay, eleven ;-P): Ikenai Onna (Bad Girl) [the ladies of Kill Bill] Karaoke Soul [Luther, Luther/Alice] The One [Rocky, Rocky/Apollo] I Can't Hold Back [Rocky, Rocky/Apollo] Baby I'm a Star [The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Carlton dances] Ain't No Other Man [Mulan, Shang/Mulan] Bloom in Adversity [Mulan, Mulan being awesome] I'm Still Here [How to Train Your Dragon] Do It Like a Dude [The Middleman, Wendy/Lacey] Better Smeg Than Dead [Red Dwarf] Given, Not Won [Red Dwarf, Rimmer/Lister]

[x] That's me - I'm all man in the cream-whipping department. [the carnival of you and me]: I haven't had a chance to watch more than a couple yet (I've been fighting my way beyond the Goblin City to the next WIP part, for my will is strong and plot-requiringness will not defeat me), but the one for me is just amaaaazing: Title: Hero (on livejournal and dreamwidth) Fandom: The Hour (2011) Summary: Freddie/Bel/Hector I've watched it at least half a dozen times already, and I LOVE IT! It's gorgeous and smart and beautifully balances the three of them. Also, I don't know if my festividder was consciously pandering to my hand fetish or if it's coincidence, but omg, hands! ALL THE HEARTS! I love it! \o/

[x] dodificus | Rec: Sherlock: The Weight of Us Vidder: tomorrowsrain Fandom: Sherlock Summary: the time has come, let us be brave... This song sets the mood perfectly, the kind of vid that simultaneously lifts you up and crushes you.
tags: jan2012 sherlock

[x] mresundance: Vid Rec: The Weight of Us: revolutionaryjo introduced me to this vid: The Weight of Us by tomorrowsrain Some gorgeous editing and a beautiful study of Sherlock's emotional journey in the second series. I especially love the parts with Irene. The vid contextualizes her relationship with Sherlock through his eyes, it seems. This goes a long way towards not dismissing or diminishing her as a character, or a force in Sherlock's life. Also love the juxtaposition of John and Irene and what they mean to Sherlock.

[x] An embarrassment of festivids recs (A-F) [the carnival of you and me]: Ftr, I don't know the source for any of these (except I saw E.T. and Cabaret, like, yeeears ago), and I'm spending half my time checking IMBD to find out Who the hell is that? I know her/him from somewhere! Fwiw, I'm now inspired to investigate Dead Like Me and The Dresden Files, just for starters. Hot in Herre (Cabaret) What Makes a Man (Batman: Year One (2011)) Little Lie (Blackpool - BBC 2004) Breakable (Catch and Release) Note: You have to download this one to watch it, but it's worth it, imo. Tells a complex, moving story in an easily accessible way. Take It Off (D.E.B.S.) Me and Lazarus (Daybreakers) Extreme Ways (Dead Like Me) RIP (Dead Like Me) Nobody (Dinnerladies) Silver Moon, Black Dog (Discworld) Perfect (Dresden Files) (I couldn't watch the second Dresden Files one because I want to see the show now, so am avoiding spoilers. Doh!) Love Will Win (E.T.)

[x] elisi's humble abode - Vid rec.: Doctor/River, and just... really good. Excellent song choice, clever editing - I want to re-watch it a lot to catch everything. (Spoilers for all of S6 + First & Last Night.)

[x] such_heights: squee!: + FESTIVIIIIIDS! I got a wonderful vid, Baby Got Going (Bridesmaids), which I looove and need to praise the vidder in much detail about why it's great, but have yet to find the right words. Basically it captures all the stuff I love best about the film (female friendships! ridiculous faces! hilarity!) and is really well-edited with some great timing and eeee. :D I shall have some more festivids recs later when I've had a chance to watch a few more. (I'm putting off some that look wonderful because they'll probably make me cry - so tomorrow when I'm home alone, then!)

[x] lamardeuse | Lewis and Festivids: Still haven't seen all the ones I want to see, but I've seen enough to come up with a fairly long recs list, so here you go: 20th Century Boys (original A-Team) - I think this is the first A-Team vid I've seen, and it's such fun. Oh, boys. All Is Not Lost (Babylon 5) - Reminded me of one of the things I loved most about this extraoridnary show - the characters. So sad to remember three of the original cast are gone. You Might Think (Bringing Up Baby) - The editing on this brings out a lot of the laughs from the original movie, and it fits David and Susan so well. Hillman Breakdown (A Different World) - I'd forgotten how much I loved A Different World. Damn, now I want to see if the DVDs are available. /o\ Awake My Soul (Doctor Who) - A Sarah Jane vid. Have tissues handy. Waterloo (Down With Love) - I always thought there was tremendous femmeslash potential in Down With Love, and this vid proves it. My Aviator (The Great Mouse Detective) - A great vid and a great song choice, but don't blame me if you watch this and end up slashing mice. The Undeserving Rich (Jeeves and Wooster) - An utterly brilliant vid set to Stanley Holloway's rendition of With a Little Bit of Luck. Genius clip matching. Poor, Poor Pitiful Me (Mythbusters) - It's a Buster vid. Do you really need any more than that? Me Against the Music (Red) - I have a confession to make: I love Red to distraction, and this vid captures everything I love about it, from the teamwork to Helen Mirren being awesome. And any song choice that makes Karl Urban Britney and Bruce Willis Madonna gets my vote. Better Smeg than Dead (Red Dwarf) - The Red Dwarf team set to the theme from Friends. Just a great feel-good piece.

[x] the cell of space that holds me - And then this happened: Vid: Revenge by jay_99 (Moriarty, major spoilers for 2.03) We all hate Moriarty but this vid needs more love.

[x] I Suddenly Remembered My Charlemagne - Festivids Rec List (The Fandoms I've Seen): First up is Jailbreak, a brilliantly edited Star Wars vid detailing the criminal tendencies of our favourite rebels. This vid is basically the opposite of the Mary Poppins one I squeed about yesterday (short clips and quick cuts), but the editing is similarly flawless, and we all know how I feel about explosions in time with the music. I completely failed to mention this in my comment on the vid, but the ESB portion of the edit is just AMAZING for about a hundred reasons (several of which are kissing). Also, there's a wonderfully executed musical joke at the beginning. I absolutely adore this vid. Next we have Eye of the Tiger, for A Knight's Tale. To quote the festividder, A Knight's Tale is both 20 years too late and nearly 700 years too early to be a 1980s sports movie. That doesn't stop it from trying. This vid is tone perfect for the movie...and absolutely adorable on all fronts. a message for you manages to capture everything that made me cry during Big Fish and reduce me to tears is less than two minutes. The music selection is very Elfman-esque, which only makes it better, and the clips served as a perfect sample, reminding me of how beautifully shot the movie was. I still haven't watched much Eureka, but I'm pretty sure (Fargo) For the First Time captures the spirit of the show. ;) Festivids: Because where else are you going to get a fanvid for The Great Mouse Detective? Emily/Nolan(/Destruction) kind of snuck up on me...just like Revenge did. Besides, what's a vidding challenge without Ke$ha? Blow is fast and reckless and a little bit uncomfortable, just like the show. And, last but certainly not least, the vid for Mulan. Ain't No Other Man takes all of my favourite Mulan moments and sets them to a song with about ten different meanings. Plus, timed lightning! And you know how I feel about that. Mostly, though, I got the impression that the vidder likes Mulan for exactly the same reasons I do, and made the vid I would love to make, which is always awesome to find randomly. ;)

[x] mithborien: Festivids Recs!: I have to rec the two vids which were gifted to me both from the movie Red. W-o-m-a-n is a character study on Victoria who I thought was a fabulous character so I was quite delighted to receive this vid. And secondly, Me against the music, a general recap of the movie focusing on Bruce and Karl's characters, which is only enhanced by the fantastic song choice. It shouldn't work but it totally does! So thank you so much for both vids! They were fantastic :) MOAR RECS! I may not have much to say about each vid but they are all fantastic and deserve to be watched. A message for you [Big Fish] This vid actually made me tear up, which I didn't do when I first watched the movie so kudos to the vidder. Little Bad Girl [Cry-Baby] This was described by the vidder as pure dance crack and it totally is and it is so much fun! There were actually a lot of dance vids in this year's Festivids (at least of the ones I watched). RIP [Dead like me] I haven't gotten around to watching the series but I greatly enjoyed this vid. All about the gravelings. A Butterfly Dreaming [The Fall] This movie is gorgeous to begin with and this vid captures that perfectly. And I adore the song choice as well. Baby I'm a star [The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air] CARLTON DANCES! I don't think to say anything more than that. How to rock your dragon [How to train a dragon] A fantastic vid and the music is a great choice. I'm still here [HOw to train a dragon] A very poignant vid. Doomsday [Independence Day] Full of explosions and great editing. Extraordinary [League of Extraordinary Dancers] Haven't seen the source but it looks amazing. Outside the box [Maru the Cat] I think this is going to be one of the favourite vids this year and who could disagree. It's Maru/boxes and it is wonderful. Such a perfect song choice! Papa's got a brand new bag [Maru the Cat] Another Maru vid which is just as good. An equally perfect song choice! Walking on sunshine [Miranda] Haven't seen the show but I really want to! Ooh la la! [Moulin Rouge] I really liked the song choice here. Poor, poor, pitiful me [Mythbusters] A character study of the crash dummy in Mythbusters! Soft boy [Ninja Assassin] I haven't heard good things about this movie but this vid makes it look very cool. He's a pirate! [The Princess Bride] The Princess Bride set to POTC music. Fun! Fly [Parks & Recreation] Only seen the first ep of P&R but I really liked this vid and makes me want to watch the rest. Better smeg than dead [Red Dwarf] Only seen a couple of eps of Red Dwarf but it looks very fun. Pleasant [Resident Evil Trilogy] I love these movies. Alice is kick-ass. Making the Fellowship [LOTR Behind the scene] Nostalgia! Archetypal Sins [Se7en] Haven't seen the movie but a very well made vid. Like a man possessed [Se7en] Also a great vid. Firework [Whip it] Very fun vid.

[x] I Suddenly Remembered My Charlemagne - Another Vid Rec: I'm only half-way through the alphabet, but I've reached Mary Poppins and I am declaring my winner for Festivids. You Make Me Feel So Young YOU GUYS. This vid has no flash cuts or effects whatsoever, and the song has that lazy, Frank Sinatra feel. And I think it might be the best edited piece of work I HAVE EVER SEEN. It's mostly from Bert's POV, and, as you probably know, Bert spends quite a bit of time in Mary Poppins dancing. He's still dancing in this vid, my friends, EXCEPT HE'S DANCING TO DIFFERENT MUSIC. It is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. At first I was all Oh, cool! A Mary Poppins vid! and by the end I was staring at my computer LIKE I WAS A CODFISH, because I was so very, very impressed. In addition the perfection of the timing for the dance sequences, the vid also had wonderfully literal clip selection, which I am always a fan of. And very little in the way of talking heads.

[x] You're entering the vicinity of an area adjacent to a location. - FESTIVIDS!!!!!!!!!! \o/: I got three, I repeat THREE absolutely perfect, brilliant, amazing vids!!!! Here they are: Bubba Ho-Tep Feeling like a Ghost vidder's summary: I know I'm getting older This is brilliant! The song is perfect and the vid captures perfectly the unique mood of the movie. It has everything, the mixture of strange, scary, funny and touching that I adore so much in the source. If this doesn't convince you maybe this will: Bruce Campbell as Elvis (and his own doppelganger) in a resthome in Texas fighting a cowboy mummy with John Kennedy. You heard me. Universal Soldier Come as you are vidder's summary: Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach, as I want you to be. This vid is the Universal Soldier Vid of my heart, the vid I always wanted, the vid that amplifies the emotional impact the movie keeps having on me. It captures the aspect I love most about the movie: the way Luc and Andrew are both consumed by the last thought they had before they killed each other. And all the fighting and the blood looks really pretty, especially when doused in mud. Thelma & Louise shine vidder's summary: What will I find? This vid just flows with awesomeness The song is perfect and brilliantly used, quiet and hectic moments take turns while the story of one of the most beautiful big screen friendships is told. I could list all my favorite parts but that would be everything, so you might just watch the vid.
tags: jan2012 festivids

[x] c'est dur de mourir au printemps -: I GOT TWO BRILLIANT VIDS *FLAILS* GO CHECK THEM OUT! the a-team | 20th century boys. AAAAH, there is no way to explain how much i love this! teamy-ness, action, fun, FAAACE <3 and cigars and everything. so so so good! cry baby | i can't break away. omg, this is so happy-making (I LOVE THIS MOVIE OMG), all the dancing and sliding and singing and *flails* oh my heart :`) have i mentioned they're brilliant & that you need to check them out?!
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] gigglemonster: so nectar: Festivids are up! Go, enjoy! Here are my favorites → Blue Skies | New Girl Such a wonderful vid for such a fun show. I love the little family these four have become and this shows that beautifully. → Oh La La | Moulin Rouge My gift! And it's gorgeous and perfect. The use of the dance sequences and the natural movement/beauty of the movie is amahzing. Thank you, festividder!
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] danegen | Festivids euphora: I got THREE vids this year, and I need to show you them. Little Bad Girl. This is a wonderfully cracky and completely awesome Cry-Baby vid. There's dancing and motorcycle riding and singing and Johnny Depp licking things. I fell completely in love with it in the first ten seconds. The Devil takes care of his own. Even if you don't wanna watch George Clooney and Juliette Lewis kill vampires, you should watch this through Salma Hayek's dance. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I love the song the vidder used. This vid is my favorite combination of sexy and gory. Whatever that says about me. O.o. Gone (A Moral Imperative). REAL GENIUS VID. It's adorable and funny, but damn if it isn't also incredibly moving. BLESS THEIR LITTLE FACES. And how perfect is this song?! *screams into fists* Also, LAZLO.
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] Just Because - Festivids! Festivids! Festivids!: I won't be able to WATCH ALL THE VIDS until tonight, but I did get to watch both (YES, BOTH!) of the vids made for me and they are FABULOUS! There's Devil's Got Your Boyfriend, an absolutely AMAZING Sons of Anarchy vid. It's Jax and Tara from Tara's POV and it ROCKS! The editing and storytelling is just perfect and the ending! Oh, the ending! The whole vid is just so powerful. Go watch it! And then there's 99 Luft Ballons, a kind of tragic love story between Apollo and Serena from the original Battlestar Galactica. Richard Hatch looks so YOUNG! It's all kickass from the start and then poignant and hurty at the end. Go watch that one, too! Best festivids EVAR! \o/
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] boom_queen: omg my festivids gifts are soooooooooo happy-making!: Still basking in the glory of Festivids go-live and so many more to watch, but I had to pop in for insta-recs of my two gifts this year. Best year yet, y'all! Da' Scarlet Dipernel (The Scarlet Pimpernel) - This is quite possibly the vid of my SOUL. My treater captured everything that I love: the costumes, the intrigue, the romance, Ian McKellen's immaculate bitchface--all with perfect timing and humor. OMGUGUYS. I can't even explain how happy this one makes me. Light and Dark (Legend) - So dreamy and lovely. Gorgeous epic fantasy porn.
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] I Suddenly Remembered My Charlemagne - Vid Rec!: So Festivids is live! And I was going to wait and do all the recs at once, but THERE IS A TANGLED VID, and there are people who need to know this, so: Everything Comes and Goes Seriously!
tags: festivids jan2012 disney

[x] bironic: Longinus! Conor! Catlin! Diana! Fergus! Tully! Molly! Gaelic Storm!: It doesn't matter what else comes of Festivids this year, the community is utterly and totally awesome because someone made me a Roar vid!!!
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] I don't want to wake up - Vids!: Babylon 5 - Binary Orbit. This is everything I love about Londo and G'Kar's relationship. The hatred and the respect, the regret and the tragedy, just. Londo and G'Kar. Cabaret - Hot in Herre. This starts off fun and the packs a hell of an emotional punch. I think it might be the best vid this year (out of the ones I watched, of course). Clueless - Let's Go to the Mall. Possibly the most perfect song/source pairing ever. Die Hard - Sexy Back. This is everything awesome about the Die Hard series condensed into three and a half minutes. Doctor Who - Awake My Soul. Oh, Sarah Jane Smith. The Fall - A Butterfly Dreaming. This is just gorgeous. Independence Day - Doomsday. This is how action movie vids that want to focus on the action should be done. It makes me want to dig out my copy of ID4 right now, even though I know this vid is making it look much better than I know it actually is. Jeeves & Wooster - The Undeserving Rich. This is just fantastically fun. Kamikaze Girls - Hero. MOMOKO AND ICHIGO I LOVE YOU. What, you wanted more than that? Life - Children's Work. This is a completely brilliant look at Dani Reese and Dani and Charlie's relationship. I've already watched this one at least four times, and I can tell it's going to be one of those vids I come back to again and again. Maru the Cat - Outside the Box and Papa's Got a Brand New Bag. If for some reason you haven't seen these two yet, just go. Now. Watch. Be happy. The Middleman - Do it Like a Dude. WENDY/LACEY. I have priorities. The Middleman - Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. This is everything that's awesome about The Middleman. Everything. And using a song that perfectly captures all the genre meta humor the show loved. Mulan - Ain't No Other Man. This puts a giant smile on my face. It's true, there ain't no other man for Shang. Mythbusters - Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me. You know that Buster fic I asked for for Yuletide? This is that fic in vid form. And it's the best thing ever. Hee. Poor Buster. Newsies - Express Yourself. This may be the best use of ridiculous dance numbers in a vid that I have ever seen. Quantum Leap - Coming Home. Oh, Sam. Red Dwarf - Better Smeg than Dead. It's Red Dwarf to theme from Friends. And it's awesome. Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Feeling Good. I haven't actually seen this film yet, but wow. Excellent song choice. Singin' in the Rain - Tom Cruise Crazy. This is fantastic and makes me ridiculously happy. Stand by Me - Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise. This is gorgeous and moving and perfectly distills the essence of the film. Bring tissues. Also, sga_saturday is having a fandom appreciation month, and I've been rather remiss in posting anything. So have three (relatively) recent SGA vid recs. Anything for You by bironic - Team! This vid makes me ridiculously happy and I watch it whenever I need a quick pick-me-up. All of the team! Ça Plane Pour Moi by purplefringe - John Sheppard is such a strange and ridiculous man. Of course, that's why I love him. Runs in the Family by lilly_the_kid - If I was making a top ten best SGA vids list, this one would be at least in the top five (and I've seen a lot of SGA vids). I think John Sheppard is one of the only male characters such an inherently feminine song could work for, and lilly_the_kid makes it work fantastically well. John Sheppard is messed up, and he knows it. His friends are too, but mostly him. I kind of want to point to this vid and go That. That is the John Sheppard that lives in my head. Right there.

[x] kaydeefalls | festivids!: First, continuing the Sports Night theme of my holiday exchanges (seriously, I'm kind of baffled myself, I requested tons of other things too), this lovely ensemble vid, To Make You Feel My Love. THEY ALL JUST LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH OKAY. I'm really impressed by how the vidder made such a slow-paced song work with a TV show that's so quick and talky, but it really, really does. And while obviously the lead characters get the most screentime, all the other characters get their moments, too, and I LOVE THEM ALL. Then, this weird and gorgeous Donnie Darko vid, I'm Not Done, which captures the essence of the movie and Donnie's unbalanced mental state absolutely perfectly. It's eerie and unsettling and very, very beautiful. SO MUCH AWESOME. Now to dive in and check out the rest!

[x] marina | WE BRING YOU THIS URGENT NEWS: So, festivids is live and blah blah OH MY GOD PEOPLE YOU NEED TO GO SEE THE VID I GOT. OH MY GOD THIS VID. THIS FUCKING VID, I CAN NOT. *___________* EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO SEE IT. ABSOLUTELY NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF CANON IS NECESSARY. The source is the movie Plata Quemada though, so everyone who HAS seen it, you REALLY DON'T NEED ME TO TELL YOU to go watch this vid to rush the fuck over to the play button right now, do you? FUCK FUCK FUCK, AMAIZNG FUCKING PLATA QUEMADA VID this is like EVERY PRESENT THE UNIVERSE COULD HAVE EVER GIVEN ME, FFFFFFFFFFFFF. IT HAS ALL MY FAVORITE SCENES, YOU GUYS ;_______; ALL OF THEM. And I didn't even write a Dear Festividder letter, and somehow my mystery vidder JUST KNEW. Or maybe it's that THOSE ARE EVERYONE'S FAVORITE SCENES, OH MY GOD. The blood and the booze and the sex and drugs and the love and the violence, I CAN'T. It's like ALL MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THAT MOVIE, DISTILLED. DID I ALSO MENTION THE HOT NAKED BOYS WHO MAKE OUT WITH EACH OTHER? (and do drugs and kill people and visit churches and bleed all over each other and and and... *______*)

[x] some_stars: FESTIVIDS IS LIVEand I GOT TWO VIDS, thi: Ain't No Other Man Okay, see, I request Mulan every year, and it's usually my only safety source because I don't really watch movies. But I watch Disney, and I love Mulan SO MUCH, and I think it's one of the most beautiful Disney movies--the style just really works for me--so, request. I don't think I was ever anticipating something like this, but clearly I should have been because IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. The summary is Ain't no other man for Shang and damn right there is not. And all the timing is perfect, and I giggled the entire way through and also felt Feelings. I am going to watch this every single day until reveals, and then I will watch it again but bigger and perfecter. GIVE ME STRENGTH, BOY, YOU'RE THE BEST. Bloom in Adversity So this vid is the complete opposite--closer to what I imagined when requesting Mulan, but I didn't really imagine how gorgeous this vid would be. Visually, of course; it makes full use of that amazing animation and I can't look away from it. But it's also so breathtaking because of all the emotional--everything, it makes me clutch my heart. I really love that it spends a lot of time on Mulan's life before and outside of Ping and fully develops that part of her life, emotionally. I love how the use of fades and cutting is tied organically to the music. I LOVE the music and it gives me all the feelings. ...okay I have to watch this one again too now, I am never going to get around to any of the other vids.

[x] giandujakiss | So, Festivids.: Now just, as background, back in October, I specifically declared that I wanted every vid in Festivids to be a Maru the Cat vid. Sadly - and this is a real disappointment - not every vid in Festivids is a Maru the Cat vid. But I can say that two of them are, in fact, Maru the Cat vids that were made for me, and they're totally different and the cuteness is so painful that you may just have to take a break in the middle of watching. First up, there's Outside the Box, which is a sincere, dedicated examination of Maru's deeper feelings with possibly some of the most brilliant clip-lyric matches ever to be vidded. And then there's Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, which is joyful and bouncy and I believe represents Maru's trufax inner voice. Warning: You may need to hug a kitty after watching these vids. And then, on top of that, I got this gorgeous vid to the movie Daybreakers, and though I don't really recommend the movie itself, I do recommend the vid. Because Daybreakers doesn't really tell much of a story, but its art direction and worldbuilding are lovely, and this vid perfectly captures all of that with an unexpected yet perfect song choice that has been stuck in my head for days (yes, days, I watched it in advance, don't tell me you're surprised). Anyway, please, watch these, watch them all, and comment to tell the vidders how much their work is appreciated. Yay!

[x] laurashapiro | You guys, I got the best Festivids!: My Festividder(s) love me and want me to be happy! And the cool part is, you get to enjoy their largesse, too! I asked for the epic love story of Londo and G'Kar (Babylon 5), and I got Binary Orbit, a gorgeous instrumental that highlights the tragedy, humor, respect, and regret that make up their complex relationship. It moves beautifully and looks gorgeous and I have little hearts in my eyes right now. ♥ ♥ I asked for a Red Dwarf vid, and I got two! Better Smeg Than Dead, a brilliant use of the theme song from Friends to highlight the show's humor and relationships; and Given, Not Won, a bittersweet and funny take on Lister/Rimmer. I love them both! THANK YOU, FESTIVIDDERS!

[x] fan_eunice | Festiviiiiiiids: I woke up this morning to find that I had recieved EIGHT vids. That was not a typo. Eight. I swear to god it took me an hour of being completely overwhelmed (in the really GOOD way) before I could even watch them. Just. You guys. *bursts into tears again*. I can't even express what this meant to me. And I love every single vid. What I got for festiviiiiiiiids: Two, count 'em TWO Independence Day vids. And what's awesome about them is that they are both such different takes on the movie and BOTH were just like...*flail* For your epic motherfucking explosions and alien face punching needs: Doomsday And for a lovely and more contemplative look at the lives behind the booms: 4th of July *sniffle* Also two, again, count 'em TWO Once A Thief vids, because I am LOVED and *flail and point*: My adorkably dysfunctional OT3 in all their adorkably dysfunctional glory: The Frug In which The Director rightfully claims Mac as her personal playtoy: Mean Woman Blues Raising Hope represents with Burt/Virginia 4EVAH, Halloween Hugs, Llama Spitting, and not enough <3 <3 <3s in the WORLD: In Spite of Ourselves Top Chef! No really. In which Stephen and Harold love each other VERY VERY MUCH, and now I have visual proof for anyone who ever doubted: Something to Go On Sandra Bullock's faaaaaace could not be more adorable or sweet and neither could this vid, OMG. This? This right here is why it remains my favorite romantic comedy ever, now in vid form: Passionate Kisses And finally, after three years of asking? I GOT MY BUBBLES VID. Oh god, BUBBLES. This is the point where I fall apart incoherently and try and fail to give you words. Because, Bubbles. Bubbles: As I Call You Down Yeah, I totally win festivids. Forever.

[x] electrumqueen | and i wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know: festivids is live, and this is a yes minister vid that BLOWS MY MIND with how delightful and perfect it is. THAT SHOW <3___<3)
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] settiai: Festivids!!!: Festivids is live on both Dreamwidth and LiveJournal! I got two vids (!!!), and they're both absolutely perfect! ♥ ♥ ♥ My Festividder(s) are amazing! One of them is a Tiger & Bunny vid to Smells Like Ke$ha's G6 (DW / LJ) by Titus Jones. It's awesome and fits the characters absolutely perfectly. And the other is vid for The Great Mouse Detective to Zoey Van Goey's Aviator (DW / LJ), which is an absolutely adorable look at Basil and Dawson's relationship. So. Much. Love.

[x] dragovianknight | DUDE! I didn't even participate in Festivids!: And yet, thanks to someone making this awesome vid for Sisabet, I feel like I got a gift too! Friday the 13th: the series vid to Elvis Presley's Kissin' Cousins. I feel the need to mainline the first two seasons of F13 now. ♥ Edit: ALSO, this Mulan vid for some_stars, which reminded me that Mulan was not awesome just because she learned to kick ass, but because she was stubborn and clever and THE ARROW SCENE IS NEVER NOT GOING TO MAKE ME SQUEE, OKAY? Oh Disney, why can't more of your heroines be like Mulan?

[x] likeadeuce: Festivids: Contracts. Wanted. Song by So So Modern. Wanted was maybe 60% What is this shit? and 40% The movie in this world that I very most want to see. The vid, as vids can do, portrays only the awesome parts, for values of awesome that are ass-kicking Angelina Jolie and bloody, out-of-his-depth James McAvoy with a gun. You May Be Right. Willow. Song by Billy Joel. I don't think I've seen Willow since I was 12, and based on this vid I didn't remember it at all (though, fun fact, for a long time it was the only thing anyone knew Val Kilmer for, and my older brother bears a passing resemblance to Val Kilmer, so for a long time he got told he looked like Madmartigan). Point is, I will probably ship any ship that can validly be vidded to this song (see also, For You by Bruce Springsteen). I don't even remember the woman in this vid from the movie, but this vid has kind of a Han and Leia with swords vibe and I certainly approve of that! Express Yourself. Newsies. Madonna. Is it possible I need to say ANYTHING beyond that? The Cave. Toy Story franchise, Mumford & Sons. This fits together WAY BETTER than I would have thought. Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise. Stand by Me. Wonderful song for this story about childhood and friendship and decision making (though, wow, there weren't ANY girls or women in that movie, were there?) Finally, Awake my Soul. Doctor Who, Mumford & Sons. If you're like me and you only know Sarah Jane Smith/the late Lis Sladen from the revived Who franchises (and, obviously, if you've known her and loved her all along), you owe it to yourself to watch this vid with clips of the actress and character over the years. Excuse me, I've got something in my eye.

[x] festivids!! [imaginarycircus]: Someone made me a Bringing Up Baby vid that is just adorb.

[x] A Most Peculiar Mademoiselle - Festivids Recs #1: First, the two gift vids that I received and which are both just wonderful. I feel so very lucky to have received two such beautiful vids. Thank you, vidder persons! Head Full Of Doubt/Road Full of Promise (Stand By Me) I watched this and then I teared up a little and I actually couldn't watch it again right away because it gave me all the feelings and I had to recover a little first. It's beautiful. Oh film, I love you. So much ♥ Walking On Sunshine (Miranda) This on the other hand made me grin like an idiot. So delightful! I may have danced along sitting in my chair as well (It's totally possible.) SUCH FUN!!!

[x] rhivolution: Festivids are go! (the 'make a deal with god' remix): I got two vids this year, I am SO excite, you have no idea. And both are early Spooks/MI:5 and both are utterly bloody amazing. Running Up That Hill is using the Placebo cover of that song, which is an automatic sucker punch to the gut, and it's about Tom and Zoe and Danny, which is like a second sucker punch immediately following that, knocking the wind out of you. Except the emotional resonance isn't cheap at all, the vid is amazingly constructed, and the topics are still relevant, nearly a decade on, particularly in light of modern issues in Britain. Also, pretty. And heart-breaking. And with the best guest stars from the period (Tony Head! Siddig El Fadil!) As I said in my comment, this is the TomZoeDanny vid I wanted in my head, subconsciously. Adagio for Strings takes Harry and Ruth from S1-S5 and plays with the facets of their interactions to a beautifully fitting wordless Tiësto track. While touching on the Harry/Ruth or Harry&Ruth relationship, I found the bigger point of this vid to be more RUTH IS FUCKING BADASS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN BADASS, which is just as cool as shipping and far less common of late considering where canon went. The construction of this one is simply phenomenal. I wish I could make something half as good.

[x] talitha78 | My emotions. MY EMOTIONS: Happy Festivids Day, everyone! It's an especially happy one for me, as I got the most beautifully heartfelt vid ever. I cried, people. Actual salty tears. Down my face. Behold my Festivid: E.T The Extraterrestrial LOVE WILL ALWAYS WIN (can also be found at Dreamwidth HERE.) Everything about this vid is amazing: the song choice could not be more perfect (it's by Opsop, a band I've never heard of before), the editing is understated and lovely, and the build and trajectory of the vid deliver an incredible emotional payoff. And thus, the tears. *wipes eyes* Thank you so much, dear Festividder. You made my heartlight shine.

[x] gwyn | Flaily Hands!!! I has them: The first one is for The Middleman, and it's just fabulous and funny and silly and captures the tone of the show so perfectly: The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny by Lemon Demon (and at DW here). Seriously, Indiana Jones references, Wendy is Chuck Norris, and Abraham Lincoln with a machete. It's just wonderful and it looks really fabulous, and the timing is superb. I hold it next to my heart, but I'm also careful not to watch it again when I'm drinking tea. The second one is just... here is where I get all flaily and teary-eyed: It's for the little movie of my heart, Catch and Release, and I was really not expecting this because only about five people in the world have ever seen the movie, and probably even fewer of us love it with a passion like I do. Breakable (DW here is an Ingrid Michaelson song that just fits the characters in this movie to an absolute T -- they are all breakable girls and boys, but they are resilient because they love. Even if you don't know the movie, you should watch this vid because it's lovely and beautiful and sniffly and perfect.

[x] heuradys | Festivids!: I got a Booker vid! And I love it! With the getting his ass kicked and perfect hair... and all the shoulder pads and neon ski jackets ever. *grins madly* It captures the source so very well. It's here, so go watch it!

tags: festivids jan2012

[x] franzeska | IT'S FESTIVIDS TIME!: I got a genius (GENIUS) vid of the 2008 Speed Racer movie. For those of you Cruel Unbelievers who did not understand that this was the Best Movie Evar, you can now see the three-minute version. It is my sincere hope my vidder uploads a ginormous copy to vimeo or somewhere for reveals because the fug quality on viddler just does not do this source or this gorgeous vid justice at full size.
tags: festivids jan2012

[x] shinealightonme | I'm an alien tonight: SPEAKING of things I could watch every day, Festivids have gone live! I've been out and about most of the day so haven't done much watching yet. But I got this super shiny Middleman vid, Do it Like a Dude, which is full of Wendy awesomeness and Wendy/Lacey and generally ass-kicking-ness. So check it out, and check out the other small fandom vids at the masterlist.
