Evey wasn't sure how it had happened, but somehow she was more confused rather than less after her magic-assisted discussion with Marcus. She knew now that he did have feelings of some type for her, but she also knew he didn't know whether those feelings were true or not. He needed time to determine that before anything else could happen, and she needed to give him that time for her own mental health as much as his.
For her part, she knew she cared about him, but didn't have any idea what to do beyond that on many different levels. The only other man she could say she'd cared about in this sense was V, and that wasn't much of a guide either since the situation in general had been so odd.
There was only one thing for it. She needed advice, and she needed it from something other than the bookshelf, which persisted in giving her books about recovering from abusive relationships. She supposed that in the strictest sense, the bookshelf was being helpful, but as usual, it wasn't the kind of help she was looking for. That kind of help came from a friend, and the one person she trusted to give her good advice about this was Padme.
She went into the compound with only a little hesitation and knocked quietly on Padme's slightly open door. She didn't hear either Jay's voice or Sola's gurgles from inside, so it was likely that Padme was alone. She hoped that since the door was slightly open she wasn't interrupting.
