So, this is a story for those of you Chemistry-inclined (re: Ryan).

Today in Chem lab I was setting up a Buchner funnel vacuum filter. I had the vacuum on and was checking my seal when all of a sudden the open palm of my hand was sucked into the filter. Basically it was like trying to suck a portion of your body through a filter. Well, I freaked out--obviously--but managed to turn the vacuum off. Sadly, my palm and the filter had already created a suction, and I couldn't get my hand off. I could literally feel all the blood in my hand and arm being forced into my palm. It was the strangest feeling. Of course, my TA was not really trained to handle something like this, and had no idea what to do. I ended up having to rip my hand off the funnel to break the seal.

Well, as a result, the palm of my hand now bears a perfect circle worth of bruising and broken blood vessels. That and I can't really stretch my palm very wide. Of course, I have a midterm tonight--an essay one. My wrist also feels super strange, like the blood hasn't fully recovered yet. Anyway, we'll see what happens, not to mention how it looks tomorrow.
