Tales of Real Life ... the nephew strikes again
So yesterday the nephew called for his usual whine-fest. This time, he has no food until his food stamps arrive on the 17th of the month. He told me his mom was going to go shopping with her food stamps (which she gets on the 1st for some reason & has more than he does somehow too) and bring him some food but she didn't have gas money.
Well, 1: I have about 1/4 of a tank of gas to last me until I go to work on Saturday & 2: it's not my job to feed this guy. I offered to loan his mom gas money via a cousin who has Venmo & can drive over to give the cash to my sister (she lives an hour and a bit away from my house). Nephew says that would be great.
So I Venmo the money to the cousin, who then drives it over to my sister -- who is astonished & says her boyfriend drove her out to the nephew's yesterday with a car load of food! The whole thing was a flat-out lie from one end to the other. I have no idea what the nephew thought he was going to get out of that, or why he let me send the cousin on a wild goose chase like that. We are both so mad at him right now we could bite nails & spit out bullets.
Why can't I have loving, quirky relatives like the ones in the books I read?
