(no subject)
I have been given a slightly more elevated position at work: vaccine monitor. I'm in charge of picking up and returning the vaccine on Mondays and Fridays (when we work in Pickens county, closest to home). This adds around an hour total to my day plus mileage to and from the health department, so I'm getting paid a bit more. It's not a horribly difficult job, just a shit-ton of mostly redundant paperwork to fill out before and after each clinic.
It would be nice to have an official raise, but...
We've been doing second doses recently. These go more quickly than first dose clinics as we don't have to go over as much with the patients before giving their shots. We also don't have to take time to make them another appointment after their last dose, so one fewer station to set up and take down. We're all hoping that DHEC decides to keep the mobile clinics after the first rush of COVID vaccines is over. Everyone likes the job and if the vaccine turns out to be a yearly thing, we can keep the clinics going and give out flu shots, pneumonia, Shingrix, whatever ...
Tons of Paperwork!
Met the sister and nephew for lunch today. It's her birthday tomorrow (59) so I treated them to sushi and desserts. We went to Sushi Murasaki on Main Street (a tiny place but the food was very fresh and they said it was delicious. I opted for hibachi as I dislike the avocado that seems to be in every sushi roll on anybody's menu. Mine was nice but not as good as Sakura at Cherrydale (they have filet mignon as a choice rather than just NY Strip Steak). We then strolled down the street to Savannah Sweets and had banana pudding ice cream (Becky), Pina Colada gelato (me) and fudge (Josh). Then I had to sit in the car and finish my gelato since I can't drive and eat a cone and the sweet shop didn't have tables. It was tasty though. I also bought a giant peanut butter cup for later tonight
