So someone tried to steal
pipmudturtle's iPhone the other day. I say "tried" because who in their right mind steals a smart phone? It has GPS, people!
Pip showed the manager his iPad with the address that his phone was located -- they called the employee who lived there and convinced him to bring the phone back. He had a perfect opportunity to claim that he hadn't stolen it, that someone had put it into his backpack instead of to Pip's after they looked at the phone -- an innocent mistake. No, he first lied and claimed he was out of town for some reason, but one of the other employees goes to the same college and reported that this fellow was in school that day instead of out of town. He then lied again and claimed he'd found the phone just lying on a ledge at the local Subway -- though how Pip would have gone to Subway during his work shift was just a ridiculous idea! He didn't get fired for stealing the phone, because that could not be proven, but for lying so horribly!
What is today's youth coming to? Good gods, people, if you're going to be a thief, do it well! And don't steal something that can be tracked to your exact address! My technician says her son once tracked down his smart phone after he dropped it on a hike out in the wilderness!
