Today was awesome.
Teigan and I went up to Julian for the day, and went about on an epic odyssey fraught with danger at every turn. She came over, I threw a rifle and a few boxes of bullets in the back of the truck, and we were off.
In Short
Lightning
Crazy drivers
Horses, cows, turkeys, deer, and sheep everywhere
Firearms
Storm chasing
Delicious pastries
Laughing so hard until there were tears, many times
It was the most fun I've had in a long, long time.
It rained so much and so hard at times. We seriously drove right into a storm that went from no rain at all to pouring down like mad in about half a second.
Julian was pretty nice, it wasn't too hot and we got to eat at a diner where Teig knew some of the people so the food was free. Very nice.
We went over to the Lake and saw some huge storm clouds just past it so we pulled over and just sat on my tailgate watching lighting come crashing down around Stonewall Peak. There would be non stop thunder for a good five seconds or so of pure awesome.
Just driving around was awesome. Everything was really wet and the air had that great smell to it. It was even pretty when went out towards the mountains above Borrego to put a few rounds down range. The look on her face when she first heard the crack of the rifle was unforgettable; some sort of mix of shock and badass. She's actually a really damn decent shot for only shooting once in her life. She nailed a 3'x3' target at about a 100 yards twice while standing. Needless to say I'd like to take her back up again and see how she can do with a pistol.
And delicious Dudley's is always awesome.
