I received 2 new tarantulas in the mail today.
An adult female Grammostola Rosea. She's 4 years old and her name is Beauty. I know that's not clever or anything but if you SAW her you'd see that's the only name to perfectly suit her. She's about 5 inches, very soft and with subtle pink shades covering her carapace. She's stunning.
Also a spiderling Brachyopelma Vagan. It's smaller than my pinkie fingernail and WAY too young to determine the sex, but it's name is George after the late George Carlin (Funniest man ever). I've already begun referring to it as "he" so we'll just go with that until I can find out.
I almost couldn't find the little guy he's so tiny. And fast! Jesus Christ I won't be handling him until he's bigger and slower. If I lose him I'll never catch him again.
Beauty is sweet, docile but a bit skittish. Could have just been the long trip from Florida.
I love them both. They're great. The breeder who sent them to me (as a gift, they were free) will soon be breeding a pair of G. Pulchras. Man I want one of those spiderlings.
