Clouds Rest

Jul 06, 2012 15:17

The Sunrise trail continues by going over Clouds Rest, although there is a bypass if you are afraid of heights.  The trail over becomes rather numerous near the top, but one bit is about 4 feet wide, which should be plenty but there are boulders to navigate.  It was somewhat fear inducing, but the peak was the other side of it.  Can't claim the peak until you are actually there.  We hung out at the top for a good long while, except the single at the front.  After the peak, it is a long way down to the junction with the Muir trail, where we camped.

When we got there, we found his camp but not our front man.  He had gotten bored after getting into camp and set up by about 1:30 PM and waiting about half an hour, so continued down to Half Dome as was planned for the next day.  He managed to convince the ranger checking permits to let him up with the permit number or a photo but without seeing the physical permit.
