Happy New Year and wheee!

Happy New Year everyone (! I hope you're all doing fine :)

Random things that make me happy:

I'm currently watching "The West Wing" (bought the whole series for a bargain at Amazon UK a while ago) and it really is a great show. I'm enjoying the characters, the warmth of their relationships even if there is tension, the lough out loud humor, the issues and how they are presented even if it's sometimes terribly sad to watch an episode and see that exactly the same thing is in current news nearly a decade later. It's unbelievable that Aaron Sorkin wrote or co-wrote all episodes (compare that to what the SGA writing team accomplishes on two fewer episodes a year). The stories are so dense that you have to pay so much attention not to miss anything (and I still do).

And the cutest thing just happened to me when I saw my nephew. My brother's family was here on Christmas Day. During lunch, my nephew (he's 16 months old) put his hands together and moved them quickly from side to side. I thought it was cute, so I mirrored what he did. He really liked that and laughed. A little while later, he did it again and of course I sprang into action too, making him laugh again. This went on through all of lunch (and I felt tired and old towards the end, I can tell you ;)

Just now when I returned from work and they'd just returned from a trip to Strasbourg or Kehl or something with my parents, I quickly went to say hello before they take their train. So I said hello to Leon (my nephew) and kissed him (it's what aunts do!). I was never really sure if he recognizes me (or my sister or my parents, because he can't speak yet and is sometimes a bit shy when they've just arrived), but this time he smiled at me, which was very cute and then he suddenly did the hand movement again that we'd played through Christmas lunch! Which means he recognized me \o/ I actually asked my brother if he's maybe doing it all the time now after Christmas, but he said Leon has never done it again, so I'm really fairly certain he saw me and remembered what we played and that makes me really giddy :D

Now I'm off to write a little Joe/David ficlet, since it's Joe's birthday and all ;)
