Really, yesterday afternoon I thought it was about time to be Friday. Today my bus driver drove by and didn't wait at the bus stop even though it was 5 minutes before departure time.
Now I come home surf my friends list and see there's a new community:

Guess what I found in the rules? )

In any case, it must be hard for them to disallow something that Joe chose to play with their line of arguing. Maybe you're only allowed to icon Lionel without either of his boyfriends ;)

I can't actually recall seeing a more offensive "justification", ever.

I'm willing to imagine that it wasn't done to offend. They probably just didn't want the icontest to be taken over by the (admittedly predominant) slashers. So they went and made a rule and managed to phrase it in the most horrible way possible (although I shouldn't say that, I bet you could do even worse).
It's still quite annoying. Way to unite Joe lovers...

Yes. I think I still wouldn't have joined. Making it character/actor oriented, okay, I get that. But allowing het and forbidding slash? And the reasoning really was the icing on the cake. I wonder if they actually believe that or if they just felt they had to come up with some reason...
When I watch the show I have my slash goggles firmly on and see everything tinted in the beautiful color of McShep, and I can even argue my case. But when it comes down to it I know that the reason for the John/Rodney that I see is plain and simple "Because I want to see it that way".
Oh well, at least I'll have more time for other stuff.

As if throwing Joe with a female cast member in bed was giving him respect in any way.

You mean that line of "reasoning"? I haven't so far actually (okay, maybe because I'm sticking to McShep fic, so I'm not looking for archives). I've come across a few Gen or Het or Gen/Het only fic communities, but they were nice and polite and simply said "This is a place for Gen and Het, you can find Slash elsewhere". Sometimes they even link to slash communities which I think is really nice.
But this just raised my hackles. Maybe because I was practically ready to join it when that rule came up.
