Venting!
Really, yesterday afternoon I thought it was about time to be Friday. Today my bus driver drove by and didn't wait at the bus stop even though it was 5 minutes before departure time.
Now I come home surf my friends list and see there's a new community: flanigan_still
So of course I check it out, because I like making icons and I thought joining there might be fun and also showing a bit of support for Joe, because often in fandom it seems he's in the shadow of David.
I read the user info as any good person about to join a community and after the standard stuff of "Don't use old icons", "Don't vote for yourself", bla bla bla, this comes:
*NO SLASH. This is a Joe related icontest, being so we will respect his sexual preferance here.
You know, I wasn't actually randomly going to add slashy text to my Joe or even Sheppard icons. And if they'd said "Please no slashing/shipping, this is a community for Joe and Sheppard only." I would have been totally okay with that and had joined. But this?
I mean WTF?! I get that you don't like slash, but making this a matter of respect for him is just sickening. I'm sure he'll feel very respected when you make him go at it like bunnies with Torri or Rachel instead of David. *
I wouldn't have felt so punched in the gut, if they'd just called it a het-friendly or better yet het-only Joe Flanigan icontest. Or did I miss that bit of info...
Well, I had to get that out of my system. And I might well regret posting this tomorrow. But this is how I feel now.
In conclusion: I'll just make Joe and Sheppard icons when I feel like it and continue my disrespectful slashing.
