  • 18:28:22: I assume I can talk about this now: if you love animation do yourself a favor and go see Tangled. Character animation = top notch. SERIOUSLY.
    • Also it's the first in a long time that I can remember Disney having a *funny* heroine we could laugh with (and at XD). Rapunzel is adorbs.
    • @taconaco I love it when the hero is an ARTEEST :D (Man she was ( Read more... )

So happy that 'Tangled' worked out for the better! I really want to see it, but I may have to do it by my lonesome. A guy friend offered to go with me, but I think he was just being nice. =P

It was a sweet little romp through classic!Disney-fairytale land ^_^ I'm still kinda burned about how they chose to market the movie (even after the movie's been released, I see they're still cobbling together new "See it now!" trailers that are all Flynn and maybe one shot of Rapunzel being pretty) but sure enough, the movie is all Rapunzel's show, and she is the cutest.

And really kind of refreshing in her own ways, since I think that the Disney tradition is mostly a kind of "noble" mold or something kind of static feeling, whereas Rapunzel is.. really rather goofy sometimes, and funny, and overdramatic, and quite unapologetically girly (I don't know why but with the marketing trend of GIRLY THINGS ARE BAD I really enjoyed that).

And then of course it's probably the most physical comedy-based animated film I've seen in a long time, which I love to little bits. I'd say your guy friend wouldn't have any trouble enjoying that, but.. well, it's a pretty classic Disney movie in other ways, and I'm a big old romantic sap but even ( ... )

Aw man, that sounds like so much fun. I'm just like you with being a sucker for the romantic nonsense that Disney does, although I think they did it best in that one decade of awesomeness. Heh, I'm actually watching 'Beauty and the Beast' on TV at this moment, and man, it's weird to see some classic 2D after the push of 3D lately. =P

And I'd like to say that I'm completely surprised that 'Chuck', aka Zachary Levi, is the voice of Flynn! (They're doing sneak peaks of 'Tangled' and there he was) I was not expecting that after only watching the trailers. Hmmm, that may be the real reason my guy friend thinks he can handle the movie--he loves that TV show.

Btw, thanks for the soundtrack offerings! I'll have to check that out.

Yeah, I don't think they'll ever beat the Disney Renaissance (that decade you're talking about), which began with The Little Mermaid and I think ended with Tarzan. That was their prime, in terms of balancing story and songs and marketability with great animation and design. Not that I haven't liked things about stuff they've done since then (hello Lilo and Stitch!) but I guess the Disney Renaissance was the beginning and end of everything working in their classic format...

I hate to do that 'guys will like this because this movie has a guy he will relate to' thing, but if your friend's a Chuck fan, he probably will like Flynn's early-mid movie antics. His character arc is full of goofy antics and horse rivalry. Like. Ridiculous duking it out with a furious equine. It's great :)
