I too swat mosquitos. I remember the fateful day I began to. I was in the Norther Territory in a very small shack with my partner and daughter. The mosquitos were zeroing in on the female flesh and a rage encompassed me. I killed them all - somewhere around 30.

That being said, I avoid killing other than mosquitos and red backs. For example, I pick up cockroaches and take them outside. I discourage ants in the house by puting vinegar on their trails, changing containers to be more sealed and disposing of rubbish faster so they can eat outside.

I understand the pragmatic reasons for killing rabbits, foxes and cane toads in Oz. However I won't do it myself.

I began my vegetarian stint somewhere in 1995-6, stuck to it for about 3 years and lost it in 1999. I ate fish and chicken at this point. In 2000, I changed my life and became vegan in June with the last dairy eaten in July (I slipped once). Since then, I have been vegan.

I found the hardest thing to keep levels up was vitamin B12. This was fixed when I found the soy milk I was buying had been fortfied with B12 and my levels have never dropped.

Spirituality: Eclectic - shamanistic animism agnostic who is skeptical of everything, including science, but insists that everything is reflected everywhere. I practice active solipsism but am practical when it comes to life and death. I believe in the path of least harm.

40 words okay for you?

In ten years time... I hope to managing/owning or working in a place that upholds a bottom up approach to wellbeing and thriving, which isn't at the mercy of funding bodies trying to define what we do, but are actually being defined by the needs of those we work for - the end users. I would like to have learned teleportation and psychkinesis but suspect these are not likely to have happened.

Which three people/beings would you like to converse with? What movie have you seen that made you pause and go "wow", and why? Do you think that Sarah was fair to the goblin king (Labyrinth) - would you have said yes?
