And he said,
“We’re different people,
We’re never going to change”
What an easy way out
No precursor to change
The precursor to stay the same
What a simple explanation
From a simple mind,
An uncomplicated existence where
Everything is black and white.
But what about the greens?
The blues.
The light brown and soft pink.
The fiery reds?
Those cannot be cut and dried
They must be allowed to shine brilliantly
So I say to you,
“We’re different people,
We’re going to change”
The uphill struggle
That will mold us
Into stronger versions of ourselves.
It’s not a kick in the side
When you’re asleep.
It’s an open palm
Smoothing out the stress in your stomach.
It takes more than blind love,
More than the blind faith of your body.
It takes all eyes on who we are,
An understanding of our personal limitations
And a willingness to push those limits.
A discovery of the happiness
That new and fewer boundaries can create.
And he’ll say,
“We’re different people,
Look how far we came.”
