smoky mountains

hello! i'm road tripping to the great smoky mountains next month from the chicago area. any suggestions for places to stop along the way? i have a map of the route below the cut.





i would prefer to avoid louisville and/or indianapolis... looking for more "off the beaten path" stuff. but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
