(no subject)

so i've got a bit of a conundrum.

i just got offered this job at a soon-to-be opened specialty cafe/crepe place. since they don't have a menu yet i don't know how vegan friendly they plan on being -- but considering this town, i doubt they will be. i'm not asking about the ethics of taking a non-vegan job; i've already made my decisions about that. what i am worried about, though, is the possibility of them asking us to taste-test the food we make during training. i want to approach the subject carefully and non-judgmentally, but make it clear that although i'll make it, i don't want to taste-test non-vegan food/beverages.

have any of you been in this situation before? i've had non-vegan jobs as a vegan but i've been able to avoid the subject of taste-testing. what suggestions do you guys have as to what to say if the issue comes up?

i mean, hopefully i'm making a mountain out of a molehill here, but i'd like to be prepared if it happens.

to reiterate: i am NOT asking about the ethics of non-vegan jobs. that's a topic that's been discussed here again and again. obviously i would prefer to work at a vegan restaurant, but given that there is all of one vegetarian restaurant in this city, it's not really possible. however, this job is a good opportunity so that when i move to a different city i can more easily get a job at a vegan restaurant... and maybe, someday in the future, open up my own.
