Hidden Dairy

Jun 03, 2009 16:06

I'd like to start this off by saying I'm not vegan, but rather a very strict vegetarian. I don't eat meat, eggs, gelatin, and I have severly cut back on my dairy (no milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc). Recently I read a Viva pamphlet describing all the pus that goes into one gallon of milk, and it was enough to make me reconsider having any dairy at all, and I am seriously considering taking it up a step and becoming vegan. Over the weekend I was at a wedding (a four day event), so I allowed myself to be a little lenient with my food choices. Bad idea. Not only did all of the dairy cause my face to break out, but it gave me such stomach cramps/constipation, and I gained two pounds.

So I've decided to completely eliminate all dairy products in all forms and quantities from my diet, but I need help. I've looked through the tags (there are so many of them, but hopefully I didn't miss what I was looking for) and on Google, but I can't seem to find what I need. What are the names of hidden dairy products? I know to look for milk, whey, lactose, and casein. Are there other ingredients I should be looking for?

If there's a tag I missed, please feel free to point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
