I am SO jealous! I was abroad in Germany last spring, but Prague was my favorite city in Europe by far. I was studying the EU so I traveled all around. I had such an easy time being vegan there, too, but I can't say that I did any cooking of my own because I was only there for a few days. There's a restaurant called Clear Head that was my favorite vegetarian restaurant of all the ones I went to in Europe. It has a great atmosphere and the food is absolutely amazing. You have to go there at least three times (the number of times I went there in the three days I was there... haha it was that good). There's also falafel everywhere. Oh, and all Czech beer is vegan! (so is all German beer, just in case you're wondering). Oh, and everybody speaks English, especially in Prague, so you're not going to starve :)

P.S. they get angry if you call the Czech Republic "Eastern" Europe. It's Central Europe, instead!

Central Europe, got it. Oops. See, I have a lot to learn. Thanks for the input, good to know about the beer!

I've not been, but a quick survey of the two friends that have said to look for falafel carts (he traveled in 2002 though, so things might be different), and hare krishna food. Good luck!

I highly recommend eating at Country Life (2 stores). It's one of my favourite places to eat in the world and they have vegan eastern European pastries! They also have a little healthfood shop attached.

I know a few veg*ans from the Czech Republic and there does seem to be a moderately active vegetarian community. Have a look at:

Also contact the European Vegetarian Union, they should be able to put you in contact with local groups:
