I know this has been discussed to death, but I have some questions about cat food... I haven't been able to find any information from people who have fed their kitties on a combination diet of vegan and meat-based cat food. Is this a bad idea? I know cats are obligate carnivores, but does that mean they shouldn't be eating anything plant-based? I've found some recipes with tofu, chickpeas, nutritional yeast, etc. for cats (with some synthetic taurine mixture mixed in) that vegans have used, and I'm wondering if maybe doing a 50/50 diet, with half vegan food, would be healthy for a cat or not.
I don't have a cat presently, so I'm not really knowledgable. I don't want to have a discussion on whether or not owning pets is vegan, or whether or not cats should be vegan, but I would like some information on what they can/can't eat and if some vegan food is healthy :)
Also, I'm concerned about the price for feeding a cat. What brands of kibble (or wet food, but mostly I'm interested in finding a good kibble) would you recommend as being the most animal-friendly (or "least bad") that won't break the budget?
Thanks!
PS - If there are also posts about this topic already, please direct me and I can delete this. I couldn't find any on hybrid cat diets.
