30 Days on FX

Next 30 Days (June 17 on FX) looks pretty cool:

My only gripe is that the "vegan animal rights" family he moves in with is like, super PETA. The woman WORKS for PETA.

I hope this doesn't make us look wimpy.

other trailer/how I know they're with PETA )

I don't mind the chicken suit as much as I mind the "smile and wave" vibe of PETA demos (plus of course PETA's hypocrisy, the BSL BS, the killing, the sexism, etc etc).

Nothing like whipping out the ol' chicken suit to make vegans look like morons Well, they couldn't have exactly found an ALF cell to stay with for 30 days or something. Haha, I could see that now.

Also, i agree with your summary of a real vegan house. Except mine would involve occasionally rescuing cats and "Hey, can you make the rice while I chop the veggies for the stew" and "Damn, we're out of tofu...oh well." It would be REAL exciting. haha.

The description of the episode on IMDB states: "A hunter from North Carolina who believes animals are here for our use must live with an animal activist family for 30 days." Not really a vegan family per say... it's an activist family... the ad is misleading. Or the description. I think if a non-vegetarian who wasn't a hunter lived with a vegan family who weren't activists, then maybe they could persuade him/her to become vegan or at least vegetarian..... this episode makes me think this show is turning into Wife Swap...

the first clip says "vegan family".

I really don't understand where you're going with this.

Oh, that you shouldn't be too concerned. It's tv. It's for entertainment purposes. Of course they're going to put opposing sides into the same room.

My only concern was that they were putting the hunter in with PETA supporters. Weak.

They *shoulda* put him in a house with hunt sabbers. THAT would be quality entertainment.

ALSO: Is PETA against pets? What if you rescue an animal from a kill shelter? Would they rather the animal die and be processed into pet food or what?

PETA does take animals from kill (and no-kill) shelters and euthanize them. From my understanding, their philosophy is basically "better they die peacefully than run the risk of being adopted to an abusive family."

#1 reason PETA sucks, IMO

That's totally ridiculous. What right do they have to do that?

Weird. I'd never heard of that.

There's a pretty good wikipedia write up.

Weird, I haven't heard anything about this. I just keep seeing commercials about 30 days going into the life of miners or something.

That was a pretty interesting episode. I like the show because it's entertaining but somewhat educational. I mean, I did learn a little about the life of coal miners...

Wait, when did PETA start promoting veganism?
