Pet Store (Inspired by Previous Post)

I read the post recently about someone trying to shut down a pet store as they were getting their dogs from puppy mills and such. Now... it kind of inspired a question. Does anyone here own a small pet (not a dog or a cat which can obviously be rescued from a shelter or other organization) that they bought at a pet store? I'm talking about maybe a rabbit or a gerbil or hamster or mouse. How does everyone here feel about having these types of smaller pets? If you wanted to adopt one, how would you go about it? Anyone know of any places that you would recommend to adopt such a pet? Any information regarding such a thing would be useful I think, not just to me, but anyone ever looking in to adopting a smaller pet (some of us live in small apartments or with too many people or other situations where it would be difficult to keep a larger pet.)
