i know there was a similar post recently on someone who was "vegan when convinient" but i checked what was there for posts and it was mostly people saying that "that's not vegan, its possible everywhere, etc."
well i am looking for some ideas on what to do on road trips. i just came back from an ultimate frisbee tournament (
div 3 nationals, placed 13th, it was awesome) which was in ohio and i live in massachusetts. basically this involved not only staying in a remote place in ohio, but driving there both ways (15 hour trip each way). almost all of my meals were either quiznos or subway subs complimented with cliff bars that i brought with me. the trip started on thursday and i got back last night, all in all i had 6 veggie subs for meals, and one time i got taco bell to mix it up a bit. there is NOTHING on highway rest stops besides taco bells and subways. and i stayed at a hotel where there was no kitchen, fridge or microwave (i did get bagels with peanut butter and bananas for breakfast that was given by the hotel, so that was cool). so i was basically stuck with going to the food court every day.
so what i am asking is could you guys think of anything better? i mean healthwise i think i was okay, i got bread, veggies and protein at every meal, but it got pretty annoying by the end. i tried to bring some veggie burgers but then when i got there they looked a little screwed up by the heat in the car and there was nothing to cook them in (or put them on).
what i brought: cliff bars, peanuts, veggie burgers (failed). any other ideas? maybe meals that won't die in a car ride?
