Orean Express in Pasadena - beware!
There has long been a rumor that items at Orean's Vegetarian Express in Pasadena, CA has items which are not vegan but are being billed as vegan to those who ask.
Two recent investigations by Living Vegan have revealed that the following items contain casein, yet are billed to customers as 'dairy-free' and even claimed to be vegan if one inquires: cheese, buns, ice cream/milkshakes.
Be aware of this if you or anyone you know eats there as a vegan.
I went and got my money back from a recent meal there, since I wouldn't have eaten there if I had known the buns and milkshakes weren't vegan, since I went for a sandwich and shake--which they promised were vegan. If you feel slighted from a recent meal, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get your money back, too, though it's little consolation to having already consumed and purchased non-vegan items.
