china, anyone?
hi.. i just have a quick question.. although i have a feeling it might be a bit of a stretch.
i'm going to be living in beijing, china for about six weeks later this year, and i'm a little bit concerned as to eating vegan while i'm there. i've explained my situation to my hostess, and she's assured me that she's going to help me as much as she can.. but there are going to be times when i will not be with her and may have a hard time ensuring that what i'm getting is actually vegan (i don't speak a word of mandarain, and i know i'm not going to be able to understand food labelings at all).
so, i'm wondering if anyone here has travelled to china or another asian country.. or anywhere where english is not a prevalent langauge.. and i'm curious how one copes with this dilemma.
any advice, anecdotes, or information would be greatly appreciated.
