Thumbprint Cookies

So for any members from the Philly area, there is this awesome new vegan bakery on South St called Sweet Freedom. I've been there a few times already, and have some favorite items. The thumbprint cookies there are so good...the cupcakes and icing drool worthy...but if I keep going there I will be poor. ;__; So I became inspired to at least attempt ( Read more... )

It's the only bakery I've been to where I've eaten a sweet and feel great afterwards. No refined sugar in any of the goodies there which is probably why. I'd totally suggest buying a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. It is soooooo ridiculously good (the frosting especially...gets you hooked). I'm not a fan of their brownie though, mainly cause it's cake-like (still tastes good). Next time I go I'm gonna go try their bars, they look good.

awesome! i live just over the bridge, but $4 in tolls is a bit much to pay to just check out a bakery. alas.

if you'd like to write up a review thing for philly_veg_out that'd be kickass! <3

I was actually unimpressed with the bakery, which is disappointing because I was excited to have it opening near me. I think the icing was what I liked the least... I tried the sandwich cookie and the vanilla/vanilla cupcake and they were both kind of blah and ...beany? I'm not sure, but it was kind of gritty and off-putting. Maybe I'm just too big a fan of refined sugar :/ The cookie itself wasn't bad though, so maybe I'll go back and try something with no icing. They seemed like really nice people.

Really? Hmm...well I have been cutting the refined sugars out of my diet as beat I can, so maybe it's just my taste. I really loved the cupcake, it didn't taste gritty to me. My sister who is an omni is just as obsessed with the cupcakes and other cookies as I am. I'm sure everyones experience will be different. All I know is that I'm a fan and will keep going there for the yummies. :)

Well if you do get a chance try it out. It's no banycakes, but these things taste great and make you feel good. Will write a review.
