Weekend at the Beach
Well, I spent the weekend in Bethany Beach, Delaware with Carla and her family. It was really great to get some time off work and just relax for a change.
Her grandmother grew up in this house two blocks from the beach, and has only actually seen the ocean a few times... she hates going out to the sand. She lives there year round by herself. She was really funny. She came up to me the first day and said "You know, I'm not the typical grandmother. I stay up late, sleep late... and never cook. The best thing I can make for dinner is reservations."
Eerily, Carla's mom's name is Sue (my moms name), and her little brother reminds me a lot of my own brother, Jared. He is one of the wittiest 14 year old kids I have met.
We spent two days just lying around the beach and going out for dinner... watching TV and walking along the boardwalk. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It was nice to have the house so close to the beach, if you wanted something to snack on or drink, you could just walk back and get it within a few minutes. Her step-dad was telling me that the house next door to them (half the size of her grandmother's and one more lot farther from the beach) just recently sold for $800,000. Funny to think that her grandmother hates the beach and still has that kind of property
Anyhow, it was back to work again yesterday.. back into the routine. I did get paid on friday though, and I am once again a thousand-aire! So exciting.
