I went to get my bug on Saturday.... what a wonderful feeling it is to be able to drive again.
This is like the 5th engine that we have put in this thing... in the 5 years that I have had it on the road... It's either really unreliable, or I am extremely hard on equipment.
Actually, it has been a combination of both of those through the years... but this time I am using it as a daily driver/commuter, instead of a playtoy/4-wheeler... so hopefully I can keep it running for a change.
It is certainly past it's show-car days, as I can notice many things that are chronically dirty, or cracked, or missing... but to the untrained eye of the casual observer, it is quite radical and it still turns heads.
It's funny to be driving it in Lock Haven, because at home everyone knows it is me, and they dont even notice it anymore... but here, it is a new sensation, and everyone looks and smiles.
Which would be fine, but I am past that adolescent stage in my life where I crave consant attention, and almost wish it wasn't so "in your face". Maybe once I graduate I can find some time and money to give it an overhaul and update it to my newly aquired adult tastes.
Until then, I am sure you be able to see me, so give me a wave. :)
