I had a lot of thoughts as I watched this, but I forgot them all due to the final shot of Jack and Arvin plotting together. Arvin sounded so happy when he looked at the decoded index!
Well, here's one thing: Nadia is a much better spy than Sydney. All Sydney's emotions show on her face, whereas Nadia can cover for herself. That scene at the party at Sloane's house was a perfect demonstration--Sydney looked completely uncomfortable, but Nadia just slipped in the knife without showing more than the slightest strain.
Arvin playing the protective father when he's with Weiss is priceless.
Who else is unsurprised by the information that Vaughn Sr. is alive? I mean, we've been expecting it since we learned that he was involved in kidnapping Nadia (after his death? or did Irina kill him after her death? so fucking confusing).
I find it funny that Vaughn is wearing the stubble of moral ambiguity, these days.
The thing with the helicopter in Paris--seriously, could this show be any more of a fantasy? I hate it when they do that kind of crap, because of course the CIA is going to be able to pick agents off the roof of a French police station without causing an international incident. Sure. Loved lawyer!Dixon, though.
Actually, Dixon and Sloane owned this episode. Please, can we have more driven, angy Dixon? And I loved that scene in the warehouse with Sydney, where she shows him the device she'll use to copy the disk and he says that he never realized how complicated her double life at SD-6 was. I want more scenes like that.
Right, here's the thing. I don't think that Jack and Arvin are planning to build their own criminal empire (cool though that would be. This will come back to Rambaldi, mark my words--after all, the Alliance had a strong interest in the old guy. But are they working together to advance Rambaldi's prophecies, or to defy them--I know it's odd to think of Sloane doing that, but if he thought it would save Nadia's life, he might do it.
All rather scattered, I fear--that episode felt a bit like one of those mid-season sharp turns Alias is fond of doing--I almost thought that Arvin and Nadia would end up on the run together. Loved the fake-out in Brussels, though.
Why was Angela Basset staring out of the corner of her eye in that last scene? It looked really weird to me.
