The blade concerned was taken down where it stood today, but too late for talis_kimberley fans shocked to discover she was attacked and wounded yesterday in an incident on her "lottie". Local community friends and band members rallied round. One rushed her to hospital, almost reaching the local speed limits. Another living close to the scene, happily let her ( Read more... )

Eeeep! and *chuckle* in equal mixture at the incident & writing style respectively. Grass... apparently even more dangerous stuff than one would think... sneaky, that!
*hugs* to the injured lady.

And all this in the week after a government spokeswoman said that sharp pointy blades are not necessary in the kitchen and should be banned!

So the conclusion is we should all be cutting our bread with blades of grass instead, then...?

That was my first thought, but on hearing them out the original academic's suggestion was at least somewhat sensible. Most knife assault injuries are caused by the points of kitchen knives, but most kitchen knives don't actually *need* points - a breadknife being a good example. So since most kitchen knives (apparently, though you couldn't prove it by us!) have a 10 year lifetime before they're replaced, he reckoned that removing points from those kitchen knives sold that don't need them might significantly reduce the ready availability of weapons for knife crime over a relatively short period.

I don't know if it'd work, but there is at least some logic there!

God, you nearly gave me a heart attack with that headline (until I got to the blade bit), and I already knew about it! *tries to stop shaking*

I'm shocked and appalled that grass blades were left lying around where a poor unsuspecting musician could be terminated from her successful career as an award winning composer, musician and chanteuse.

Huzzah to the fellow offering tea. We all know that that is the universal (for some version of the British Empire) panacea of all things awful.

I'm glad you mentioned about the government stance on knives. That might help to explain the fact that ALL our grapefruit knives have vanished, one by one.

Our best to Talis!!

Damn those grass blades! We had a similar incident but it involved an Evil Blackberry bush. You just can't tell what might be in your back yard..... It sounds like the lady handled the ordeal bravely. Good for her.
