The question of some people's brilliance was never a doubt in my mind.

Whose brilliance are you speaking of?

And congratulations on getting a date to the ball. (Although I have to ask. Zacharias? Why him?)

Lavender's, mostly. She came up with this fantastic mixture to replace our damage varnish. (And yours, respectively, mostly because I've found myself admiring you lately.)

Have you planned on asking anyone, or are you going stag? (I'm not entirely sure. Something just... clicked in our first conversation, and I thought to ask him. He said yes, so...

And we kissed, so it can't have been a bad decision, right?)

Ah, just what the world needs. More nail varnish. (Kidding!) Seriously, I'm glad the two of you found a way to replace what was destroyed. (Mine? Why on earth have you been admiring me?)

Vati, I don't even want to go to the ball. I'm only going because as a prefect, I have to. Why would I ask anyone?

(Just because a boy kisses you, it doesn't mean he's a good person. Do you think he's a good person?)

Just what we need, you mean. And I wish it was that easy for everyone else. (Because you've been surprisingly calm through what's been happening. And you still manage to be your usual sweet self, despite your long hours of studying.)

You might simply ask a friend for company. It doesn't have to be a romantic date.

(Of course I do. He's wonderful.)

Still, I think it was very smart of you to try and find a way to recreate your nail varnish, as opposed to just going out and buying more. (Well, I suppose it's just because I have faith that Professor Dumbledore will be back soon. I trust Professor McGonagall to run the school. And the DMLE is gone.)

I don't want to ask a friend, and then have them think that there's more to it than just going to the ball together. Besides, I don't even know who I'd ask.

(Well, as long as he's good to you, I trust your taste in men.)

Lavender gets all of the credit, though. I merely helped her find the resources she needed. (No one can keep Dumbledore out of Hogwarts for long - not even Fudge.)

True. Well, I'll be sure to drag you out on the dance floor.

(Are you sure you're feeling alright, dearest darling twin?)

Finding resources? Did that involve research? Gasp! No, it can't be! If only you could use your powers for actual schoolwork! (Exactly. He'll be back.)

You're going to force me to have fun at this thing, aren't you?

(I'm feeling fine. Are you surprised that I trust you? I know Zacharias can be sort of an arse, but at least he's a student, and fairly respectable, as opposed to Oliver Wood.)

Yes, I just don't barricade myself behind a pile of books like you do. (I have faith.)

I won't have you pouting. Even if it is adorable.

(Just surprised that you're not criticizing my current choice of boy. And yes, Zach is respectable. At least he pays attention to me.)
