Selphie Cuddles With The Chocobos

Basically, this post exists because Selphie has promised half of Vatheon that she'll show off the chocobos, and introduce people to the gorgeous birds that they may or may not know from their world.

Tieria was walking past the barn when he heard singing. Normally, he wouldn't have bothered looking, but the voice sounded somewhat familiar. He headed over to the door and looked inside to see who it was, only to stop and stare at the sight.

He did not expect to find a barn full of giant chickens. He gaped for a bit in something akin to shock.

Selphie continued to sing while she brushed the chocobos and just as she was finished with one particular bird, she looked up to see Tieria just staring.

She burst into laughter at the sight, "Never seen chocobos before, huh?"

"Ah... no. I have not." He stayed near the door. Giant chickens... it was really strange for him. "What are they?"

Selphie stood up and moved towards the door, the chocobos clucking around her and taking a look at the stranger.

"They're chocobos! They're from my world. And these ones are super friendly. Well, unless you pick a fight!"

He had no plans of picking a fight.

"Chocobos. Are they related to Pokémon?" Because, so far, those were the only other kinds of creatures Tieria had seen in Vatheon that weren't from his own world and recognizable.

Selphie just laughed a little and shook her head, "Nah. They're not pokemon. They're just super big birds from my world!"

She smiled at him and turned to look back at the chocobos, "Wanna come meet them?"

Tieria stared at them for a moment. He had limited experience with animals as it was and this woman wanted him to meet a giant chicken. "Do they talk?" After all, how could you 'meet' someone if it didn't talk?

"Nah. They don't talk, but they like to sing and dance!" Of course a person could meet an animal - it was silly to think otherwise. Tieria didn't look like he was moving, so Selphie grabbed his hand and walked him down into the barn where some of the birds were resting.

Tieria stumbled a little as she grabbed him and pulled him along. He almost sputtered a little in protest.

"Wait! What are you doing?"

Selphie just giggled as she dragged him along and when they stopped she let go of his hand. She gave a soft, low whistle, and a couple of the younger birds came along and looked up at the two of them with kind curiosity.

"Guys, this is my friend Tieria. Be nice to him."

Tieria hesitated. Okay, so they seemed harmless enough... kind of like those various Pokémon he had met so far here in Vatheon. Of course, what to do now was a bit beyond him. He stood there a bit blankly, waiting for some sort of cue from Selphie as far as a next step.

But the chocobos were already nuzzling against Selphie, and they gave a shot at rubbing themselves against Tieria, eyeing him over and testing to see if he was friendly.

Selphie giggled and leaned to kiss one of the birds on its feathered head, "Go on, say hello back, Tieria. They're really soft!"

"Hello?" He watched her get close and then hesitantly put his hand on top of one's head. The rubbing against him was a bit to get used to, but those Zorua of N's had done that, so he wasn't as thrown off by it this time.

The chocobo chirped, happy to finally be acknowledged - Selphie probably spoiled them with affection. The chocobo continued to wriggle under Tieria's hand and hop from foot to foot.

"I think she likes you!"

"Ah-" Tieria blinked, a little taken back by the creature's enthusiasm. He gently patted her head. "Do you really think so?" he asked. Not that it was terribly important, but he'd rather have the chocobo like him than hate and possibly attack him.

Selphie looked around the barn where the chocobos were mostly going about their own business now, bar the couple that were rubbing against Tieria's legs. They jumped and chirped.

"Uh huh! Looks like you've got some new friends!"
