Also out and about was Squall Leonhart, who was never one for festivities. He didn't understand what was up with the pumpkins everywhere, the terrible decorations, the costumes, and least of all, he didn't understand the jellyfish with wings. But, had told himself a while ago to stop trying to understand Vatheon and its strange customs. They were weird and that was that.

He wasn't outside to enjoy the nice weather. He had been asking around about the dog that Aqua had found, and much to his annoyance, came up with nothing to tell her. Squall was ready to move on to another area of the city when he heard Gold's Typhlosion as it growled at a dressed up local.

He'd certainly never seen anything like that before. The guy it was with seemed to be its owner. Should he ask him? No harm in trying, he guessed.

Unless that thing attacked him.

Squall approached the two of them, stopping a small distance away.

"Hey, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure thing, what is it?"

He stroked Typhlosion's nose. Trying to calm the creature, and make sure he wasn't going to attack anyone. This creature was his, yes, and he loved his creature very much. He supposed the question was going to be about Typhlosion.

"For the record, he won't hurt you- i0if that was the question..."

His question wasn't if Typhlosion would attack him, though that was a bit of a concern of his. The verbal assurance was nice, though there were plenty of people who didn't know what their animals could or would do. Squall didn't get any closer, the creature was obviously on edge and the last thing he wanted to do was make things even more stressful for it.

"No, that wasn't it," he said. "Do you know if anyone's lost a dog recently? A big one with black fur and pointed ears?"

"I've been out of the loop for quite some time. So I'm sorry, I haven't seen or heard anything about a lost dog." He scratched behind Typhlosion's ear, it seemed calm and even stepped forward to sniff at Squall.

"Do you perhaps have a picture of the dog so I can keep a look out for it?" He thought.. "A name maybe?"

Squall didn't have a camera, and if the starfish thing had one, he had yet to discover that function. However, he did have Aqua's video post about when she first found the animal. So, he brought it out and pulled up the network. Sure enough, there's a good shot of the dog.

"It looks like this," he said. "I'm helping someone find its owner."

And then he turned his attention down to Typhlosion. Interesting looking creature, certainly seemed devoted to its owner.

...it was also huge. If that thing stood on its hind legs, it would be about as tall as he was.

He studied the dog. Shaking his head. "I'm worry, I don't recognize the dog at all. But I will keep on a look out." He pointed to some of the more lush areas of Vatheon. "My Pokemon like to roll around in the lush areas of Vatheon, I bet the dog is out there!"

His Pokemon were much like animals. One could say. "So uh, if I do find the dog. Who am I going to calling?" He was sly about asking for a name. He was always so awkward about that. He didn't mean to be.

"You should talk to Aqua," Squall replied. She was the one taking care of it, he was just helping her out. He was pretty sure she was getting quite attached to the animal.

As expected, this turned out to be another dead end, and Squall's attention went back to Typhlosion. He was, admittedly, curious about it, but he was reluctant to ask questions.

Typhlosion turned his attention to Squall as well. What a strange looking man he was. He gave the air a sniff in Squall's direction. He knew the man meant no harm, his Master wasn't freaking out or getting overly offended by something he did. There was a low rumble in the creatures throat as he stood on his hind legs to meet Squall in the eyes.

"...I think that means he likes you." Gold chimes in.

He wasn't quite sure how that was supposed to mean that he was liked, but hey, this was his first time seeing something like this. It was...well, Squall wasn't sure how he'd describe it. There was something definitely monster-ish about it, like the creatures back home, but there was also something different about it that set it apart from the animals he was used to. Not just the fact that it was tame, something about it that made it seem different. He didn't know what it was, but the creature's eyes told him that this was no ordinary monster he was looking at.

"What is he?" Squall finally asked, matching Typhlosion's gaze. Curiosity had just gotten too strong.

"He's a Pokemon." Gold stroked it's head, nudging the creature forward. Letting the offer for Squall to pet him be open. He only attacks on command. He listens to anything Gold says, and follows his every word. They were a team. The best team he would love to think.

"You can pet him, he doesn't intend on hurting you or anything."

Poe...kay...mon? That's a word Squall had never heard before. It seemed like a cutesy way to to describe it, but there was something cutesy, yet fierce about it. Hesitantly, he reached out a hand and lightly rubbed the creature's muzzle.

...huh.

"Does he have a name?"

"Yeah, he does. His name is Fuoco. Which is fore in another langue. I thought it sounded pretty cool. But he answer to Typhlosion too. He knows he's in big trouble if I call him the name I give him."

He chuckled. Petting the creature a little more. Typhlosion was a very tame Pokemon. He liked to think that maybe Typhlosion was his tamest. "I have another Pokemon, if you would like to see her. She's quite a bit smaller in size. Perhaps more your thing if you don't like a creature looking you in the face."

Squall was a decent height given man. Gold was just extremely short for fifteen.

Squall really didn't care if something could look into his eyes, only came up to his knees, or towered above him. He had seen monsters of all shapes and sizes in his line of work. In a way, he thought that Typhlosion being able to look him in the eyes was something worthy of respect.

"Sure," he agreed. Where was this other creature? Surely it was nearby.

He pulls a Pokeball from his belt and let's out his Espeon. She was shaking herself off before bounding up to Squall, she was gentle and very kind. She was the type to nuzzle up against you, which is what she was doing to Squall's leg.

"She's very friendly to strangers...who knows why."

He wasn't sure how he expected the creature to appear. Maybe from the bushes or from some unseen corner, but certainly not from a ball. How does that even- no, no, forget it. Squall told himself that he was supposed to stop trying to question the weird and fantastical things he was seeing in this underwater city. Instead, he bent down to get a better look at her.

She's a cat.

Or something.

Espeon rubbed herself against Squall's hand, mewing and purring at him. Like any normal...cat. But she was definitely a Pokemon, and she did emerge from a PokeBall. Gold looked up to Squall- it was obvious that he had never in his life come in contact with these creatures.

"Let me guess...never seen a Pokemon before?" He chuckled. "It's not a surprise here, unless it's someone from another region- or something like that!" He picked up Espeon and put her into Squall's arms, suggestion she was kind. "Give her a few scratches behind her ear and she'll be your best friend!"
