Edward was out on the usual grocery trip when he saw a younger girl run past him, and... wait, was she crying? ...Damn his soft heart under all that metal, damn it to the hell it was probably bound for anyway.

He approached her cautiously, head tilted. "...Hey, you alright?"

How could it hurt like this? And here she was thinking she couldn't feel anything...

He walks until he's right next to her, bending down so they're at the same eye level. Not so hard, due to his slightly shorter-than-average stature. ...Dammit, he hated seeing people cry like this.

"What's wrong?" Did they... lose someone?

She still felt denial at this. It couldn't be true. And yet here she was.

...But leaving someone behind, crying for them; it struck a cord with him. He remembered how he and Al felt when Hohenheim left, when their mother died and he still didn't return...

Ed reached out with his right, metal fingers closing gently on Naminé's shoulder. He wanted to say 'There's...always a possibility that he'll come back, right?' but to give someone even a false sense of hope... He frowned. "...Would he want to see your tears?"

She looked up at him, surprise on her face. She hadn't thought of that at all.

"No...he wouldn't."

"Then keep that, and the good times in mind, and keep moving."

It was all that could be said. Blunt, he knows, but sitting around crying for someone who was gone wasn't going to bring them back any sooner. ...If at all.
