Not again. Kageyama stared at himself in the bathroom mirror in a mixture of abject terror and sickening realization. His toothbrush fell in the sink with a clatter as he reached up to touch the
mask that once again graced his face. Hadn’t he gotten rid of it yesterday? He had taken it all the way across the bubble, and after destroying it didn’t work, he had buried it. He had hoped that that would’ve been enough, but no, his hopes had been futile once more. Hah. Why did he even bother anymore?
Slumping a little against the sink, he then jerked when something moved over his shoulder. Turning slowly, he stared at the half-translucent figure of TheBee. It hovered in front of his face; calm; judging. It was disappointed, he knew, and then suddenly, it was gone again like it had never been there before.
Trembling, he turned back, trying to forget the apparition, trying to put it out of his mind when he then caught sight of his old Zecter again, this time in the mirror. With a panicked shout, he grabbed the half full glass of water, tossing it at the mirror, stumbling back as the broken fragments of glass and droplets of water rained down over him, until he finally sat slumped against the tub.
He didn't normally fight punishment --he deserved each bit of it, after all-- but this time...
Reaching up, he tried to pry his fingers under the edge of the mask, pulling sharply. His nails scratched at his skin, but neither the sharp pain, nor the blood streaming down his nose was going to keep him from getting this damn mask off. He couldn’t keep this on. He’d go crazy before the week was even out.
